Opinions on Ruger

So I was checking out the new Ammo Bros store in Santa Ana when I heard a young salesman say the following to a couple older gentlemen looking at an LCR

"yeah, Ruger is known for their revolvers, that's the only thing they have worth getting"

Now I'm not a Ruger fan boy but this seems to be a pretty stupid comment to make given my own experiences. I've never heard anyone make a blanket statement like that before (from the other side of the counter)

So what's your opinion on Ruger?
What's your opinion of the salesman? Me? I will just buy what I want. I'll get opinions and suggestions elsewhere.

Most guys on here must be idiots, 10/22 is only the best selling 22lr in history. Not to mention the mk1/mk2 ect. SR1911 I handled was pretty nice as well. While I agree guns like the lcp and p95 are not the most pleasurable to shoot they have their purpose. More gun store employees need to learn that silence is a void that need not be filled.

Some people just are haters or idiots. The sr9 is really a nice gun. Kind of wish I had one. Don't forget their 1911s are 70s series

Hope the sales kid does not have a 10/22, he does know ruger makes the blackhawk and redhawk. Had a P95dc good gun never had a problem with it sold it for others. Kid just must be a lover of black guns never got to handle bolt guns or wheel guns.

Aside from twice as many marlin 60 variants being sold as 10/22 rifles(the 10/22's popularity being much more recent than some people realize), yes this is just another example of LGS employees being full of crap.

I could go on and on but I'm sure you get the point. After a while you simply wonder how the hell a gun shop sells anything that isn't illegal or explodes killing the user, or realize that there is a LOT of bs out there.

I think it is funny to talk to some of the kids at the sales counters and box stores and even some gun shops i have been too, they talk like they know so much and they are usually early 20's or so. I usually just let them talk and laugh when i get in my car and leave.

I own 3 Ruger's, a 270, 9mm and the 10/22, i have taken multiple animals with that 270 and have shot thousands of rounds out of that 10/22 and I sure wouldn't want to be staring down the barrel of that 9mm. I have yet to have ANY issue's with all 3.

I don't know anything about Ammo Bros. According to their website, it was founded by a couple of guys who ten years ago were selling ammo on the gun show circuit.

Find a good LGS run by real gun people. Build a relationship with them and then stick with them. You'll be much better off in the long run.

Ruger makes fine firearms. Not always the most refined or sophisticated but always well built, decent value and some good innovation. Jeez, I have a 10/22, P95DC, SR22 and a Ruger Red Label Sporting Clays, they have all been solid, reliable and fun to shoot. My first handgun was the P95DC twenty years ago, has always been a good shooter.

The Ruger bolt actions are solid. There is no Ruger I would turn down. The parts availability on everthing but a 10/22 is BS. There should be factory parts for sale.

Ruger Fan BOy checking in and the majority of my firearms are ruger.

They have a great selection and what i like about them is their toughness alongside the lifetime warranty.
I have everything from 10/22s vaqueros both old and new, americans, sr1911s, gp100s, LC9s and so on.

Their quality craftsmanship and awesome customer service keep bringing me back.

I have 2 mini 14, two 10 22, a lc9 and I recently purchased my first ar sr556. All have been reliable and customer service is second to none.

one that i would like to have is a Mini 30.
my dad has a mini 14 and i hate it. the damn thing jams with feeding problems and the mags difficult for me to insert, dont know why i have trouble with it.

my next aquisition from Ruger will be a Ruger AR556 though. Believe it or not i have ZERO ARs. i have a Sig Sauer 556 Swat Patrol that i kinda count as my AR but its really a hybrid. i want a traditional DI AR with retro looks, carry handle and all.

Some folks have a bias against Ruger because of Bill Ruger's statements w.r.t assault weapons ban and magazine restrictions, etc. It may have been his beliefs or business/political maneuvering to keep the mini14 off the AWB... Who knows.. He's been dead for awhile and Ruger has moved in the direction of embracing the "tactical" shooting community.

In general, they make solid guns and have excellent customer service/support.
