One more reason, ties into home defense though, and borrowed from (http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/edu143.htm):

As Clint Smith notes, “A shotgun at close range will remove meat and bone.”

You might want to spend some time in the SG pic thread. http://calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=44993

If you find something that particularly strikes your fancy and don't know what it is, just post a link or the pic here and someone can identify it.

I like the Remington, the mosberg and the benelli supernova!

Not really into over and under, or side by side barrels, same goes for auto shotguns, m4s and m2s are way too expensive, and saigas are just... Not my type.

How are they all different? I never shot any of them except supernova.

You should get one because you admit to being a "gun nut"!

There is no further reason to justify the purchase.

                  Works for me everytime.

Don't know much about the Supernova, but you've already handled one. The differences between an 870 and a 500 are largely with the functions: where the safety and pump release are located. Also, the 870's have a feed ramp that stay down constantly so it's a little more difficult to load. They also have a steel receiver, where the Mossbergs have a lighter but slightly less durable alloy receiver.

Look up the differences between a 870 Express (the standard cheap 870) and the 870 Police, and the differences between the 500 and the 590A1, then go into a Big 5 or LGS and hold as many as you can. Check out the different safeties and such, see what you think.

Get a shotgun so you can go bird hunting. Ducks, Geese, Chukar, Pheasant, Quail, Dove...mmmmm, good.
A Benelli Nova will be fine for hunting and sporting clays.

you have an AK in your banner, and you said you have an AK in your safe, so why is a SAIGA "not your type"

Everyone needs at a bare minimum a shotgun, 22 Rifle, centerfire bolt rifle, and 38/9mm handgun. Just saying! Pull

If you want to bust clays, tacticool shotguns suck for blasting clays. You need something longer than 18" or 20" to really be able to do it. I like the mossy combo package, comes with a 18" and 28" good for hd and busting clays.

I know I can google it but I love calgunners opinion.
