Just purchased a Maverick 88 today

The only thing that worries me is if my cheek is going to rest right on a shell poking out.

Also, it is less gracefull that a side saddle for purposes of training a reload.

That being said what I do like about it is that it is not sticking out like a side saddle, and does not add weight to just one side like a saddle does.

Also, I expect it will help bring the balance of the gun back towards the shooter with a full magazine on a 590-A1 which is a nice plus.

If you are going to have both extra round solutions, you could literally have 18 rounds (not including a chambered one) in or on the gun.

Who says shotguns don't have enough firepower!

Did a Remington 1100 TAC 4 this afternoon.

And what is the front sight you got.

The weapon must be about 8-9 pounds fully loaded huh?

I got the XS systems white stripe front sight with ghost ring and have no clue if it is good since I could not find any reviews for this.

In fact I couldn't find any reviews for the Blackwater Edition period, but plenty for the 590-a1 which is the main model.

I just wonder if I made the right choice. I'l find out next Wed.

I think the XS sights I'm getting with mine are interchangable posts, I need to go tothe manuf. site and double check. But if so I like the idea of something I can see at night.

Nice setup. The saddle looks like a good one. I was wondering about the mounting type, and it looks like you're going for the real deal there.

I'd probably do the same thing, though it would be nice to take it off sometimes ala velcro, but it just wouldn't fit the overall durable and fixed quality of the gun.

Picked up my 590 on the way home from the Skeet clinic... my arms are too tired to hold it up for long, but it's a sweet piece. No ammo storage in the stock (which is good, I'm lefty, and that's where my cheek goes), it comes right up to my cheek, aims nicely, and I can't wait to put ammo through it!

Ahh, you got the 18"' one. They are handy and well balanced. I actually went with the 20" barrel and I fully expect it to be a beast, but the way I figure it, the heavier it is the less kick, and the quicker the double tap

The stuff all looks nice but please give us some feedback on the speedfeed if you visit the page again (which I wouldn't blame ya if you didn't since you are NOT waiting anymore).

I'm just curious how our speedfeeds will actually work in practice and wonder if I will be adding that to the list of parts I might sell off of my brand new gun heh.

I'm feeling you on that weight since mine is the full size beast that will probably feel like a cinder block when loaded.

But it's not anything that a little training can't compensate for and heft feels good when you're shooting a cannon.

I took it out shooting on BLM last Saturday and I absolutely love the gun. I mostly shot these low-recoil Fiocchi buckshot that I picked up from another calgunner and the gun was super easy to manage. Those slugs on the other hand, boy do they pack a punch.

We shot some clay pigeons while we were out there, which I had never done before. I was able to hit every one with my shotgun, but had worse luck with my friend's Benelli M4. It made me realize that the bead sight works better (for me) than ghost rings.

The SpeedStock works pretty well, but being a righty, the shells on the cheek-side are a bit harder to get to. I think it takes a little practice to get used to.

I do like having a few extra rounds handy, especially for a home-defense gun that I keep nearby but "unloaded".

Good point about the clays. I wanted three dot or ghost rings for longer distance slug shooting but I'm wondering how the ghost rings I got are going to work for finding a clay real fast.

I know I was knocking them out of the sky with a friends 870 on my last trip and he had a bead sight. I won't know till I try but it seems the ghost rings might actually block the wide view necesary for quick closeup leading.
