My shotgun is paid for, in FULL, by me, 11 days ago. I've waited the 10+1 days and the DOJ didn't send a letter saying "Screw that guy, he can't have it". So, it's my gun, right? They won't give it to me because I use eBills?

For your next purchase id shop somewhere else. I remember i went to my local Big 5 a few months back to buy my first shotty, the store was empty and the two behind the counter were reluctant to help me, maybe because im brown or maybe beacuse theyre too lazy. After getting questionable looks while standing near the gun counter i decided to leave.

Ended up giving Turners West Covina my business but since they didnt have the model i wanted i ended up buying my first pistol. Same situation here, all my bills are paid online or to my dad's name and since i dont have a car at the moment Turners said no problem and gave me the Rent/Lease agreement. The older gentlemen who helped me was very friendly and even made jokes as i was filling out the paperwork.

Is background checks exscluvie to a gun. For example on the day it's done can you change your mind and buy a different gun or additional gun

The only thing Big 5 is good for is Rem 870s with a coupon. I bought an 870 from them and they required me to get a DMV printout because my drivers license address didn't match my registration. The guy at the DMV was like WTF? He had never heard of this and it turns out he was into guns too. Anyway I had to pay $12, I think, to get the print out. That kind of voided any savings I got from buying it at Big 5.

Otherwise their mission in life is to sell batting gloves and New Balance overruns to the elderly. Don't expect much from them: they are hourly employees who aren't that long out of high school

many people are driving vehicles that are not in their name so it doesn't work every time. Company vehicles, car in spouse's/parent's name, etc.

IAnd they don't like Mobile phone bills either.

that is because CADOJ says that Cell phone bills aren't acceptable since there isn't a physical connection to the house. I could easily have list someone else's address on my cellphone bill.

I hope I don't have any issues since im on a 10 day wait. I live in a new address but my car reg and driver license both have my old address. I told them my parents still own that house and they said ok. Does the background check affect that or is this a big 5 policy

First, I gave the identical papers (actually the same physical papers) to a gun shop on Friday to pick up a handgun. I told the Big 5 guy this. He handed me a piece of paper with the rules, I told him "OK, I'll be back tomorrow".

Hardly. There are plenty of threads from US citizens complaining about the DROS process. If it's not one thing, it's another. But that's the world we live in.

Sad, really... but I'm sure it varies a lot, from store to store. My local Big 5 is great. They've been sent to trainings, some of which were given by the (firearm) manufacturer. One of them was held at a public range, about 20 miles away and included range time.

Most of the kids at the gun counter, actually shoot to some extent, from a casual paper-punching, to one guy that's a pretty hardcore duck hunter. If anyone gets stuck on a question from a customer, they do their best to find out from a coworker, manager, published resources, whatever.

I've been in there a lot and seen them help folks of all "shapes and sizes" (if you get my drift ). The only time I've ever seen the "look 'em up and down and scowl" is when the "look" is immediately followed by the questions: "how old are you and can I see your I.D.?" The staff in that store, overall, is pretty "culturally diverse", and the store is run by a woman.

Let me back up. I got off on the wrong foot I think, and the difficulty of expressing ones self by typing.
I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties. I've never experienced this before, so I should likely try to put myself into your shoes before I have any opinion whatsoever.

Give Big5 corporate office a call and file a complaint. I did that once with Home Depot because some young kid won't help me load some cements onto the truck until I flag down the store manager. A complaint with corporate and a Home Depot regional manager gave me a call and ensure me that it will never happen again.

Never like my local Big5 because the workers there are like walking zombies. But I venture in there once in a while when there is a good deal.

ditto on what people have said, write or call corporate. No need to do BBB since that's a scam in itself, unless they like AT&T believe on it heavily, i've seen tactics like that scare the crap out of em.

In any case, yeah go find a Big 5 (if that's even possible) that has some competent employees, the one i've all been to are great and have given me good customer service, but yeah, it's service like that , I can understand bring down reputation and business....
