They are scheduled to go on sale sometime in the 4th Quarter 2011. I'm hoping they come in by my bday (Feb 2012).

You can pre order now. Average price is 6-700. I pre ordered at Impact. If it turns out to be a reliable, I'll pick up an FDE model.

The law requires magazines to be permanently altered to be treated as non large capacity.

Turners stopped taking deposits. Seems they took more deposits than their initial order of KSGs, so they're not taking any more.

            Bigger question :

Nuestead (?) of South Africa , I think . It was on the cover of a gun mag way back when too . came out with the gun in 2000/2001 .

Kel Tek does not say its a liscensed gun . Like they made it themselves . What did they do to the orig design & why ? Or is it a liscensed copy & that is not coming out ?

Think it would be better if it was liscensed as they have had the gun out for 10 years & should have figured out all of the problems by now .

I like the gun very much after seeing the video but i think it comes down to this. Part of why a person would want this is for all that it does, the update in design and technology. Its great. But if the CA version is stripped down to make way for the laws and you cant have what the KSG has and does, then one is just buying for the appearance and thats not worth double a Mossberg 500/Rem 870 price. Yes, if we can buy the same model as the video, id go for it myself but seems there is confusion as to what capacity and features it will have. My opinion.

That said, if im wrong, has anyone who made a deposit gotten any literature or anything about exactly what they bought?

The Mag cap issue isn't an problem since the shotgun AW laws do not give a limit. Since you also have to manually activate and recycle the action after 7-8 rounds it would be considered a <10 round mag. If you fire all the rounds from one tube keep cycling the action and pulling the trigger you will never fire more than 10 rounds NEVER. You need to switch to the other magazine in order to fire more than 10 rounds.

I saw a good vid of stripping of the KSG, its simpler than it appears and i LIKE it. If the CA version is the same, its a real keeper (maybe a first for Kel-Tec). I think we're looking at the next Winchester 94 or the introduction of the gatling gun. Its that new. But a de-tuned CA version? No thanks, no thanks.

I agree with the above post but unfortunately nobody asked me to write our laws. Anything can happen. Im suprised paper clips are still legal.

If I load 12 Aguila minishells in my 870, does that mean all 870s are illegal?

I thought Bullet Button makes it a fixed magazine rifle, not a detachable one?

as I understand it, magazine capacity for tubular magazines is measured with the size round the gun is designated with by the manufacturer. IE, you can have a shotgun with a tubular magazine that holds 7 2.75" shells, and any shell smaller than that... it doesn't matter how many you can stuff in the tube, as long as your shotgun doesn't go over 10 rds in 2.75" shells

HICAP mag laws do limit the number of rds to 10 or less (unless you had the magazine/gun before hicap ban). I think what you are trying to say though is a fixed LEGAL hicap mag in a shotgun will not create an AW. Since you also have to manually activate and recycle the action after 7-8 rounds it would be considered a <10 round mag. bullet button is for non tubular magazines not contained in the pistol grip of a (semiauto ?) gun. so really there is no point discussing BB with KSG

And yes the bullet button *technically* makes a rifle/shotgun a fixed mag gun (because you need a tool to remove the mag).

It has also come to my attention from an FFL holder I know that has stated that the 10 rd capacity limit in CA only pertains to Center Fire Rifle & Pistol Cartridges, not Shotshell or Rimfire.

Um...no...the shotgun AW PC does give a specific round limit at all. What ends up limiting you is the entirely seperate high-cap mag PC. If you look at the shotgun AW flow chart above you will find no where in all 4 pages is there a reference to the round limit. Again to be clear it's an entirely seperate penal code that prevents you from using more than 10 rounds, with the exception of a tube feed .22LR.
