Yeah we can all blame Remington for that one.

Sounds like a shop to be avoided. They shouldn’t be accepting work they don’t have the parts for.

            Best shop

            I'll disagree

Hangs created and wrote the book on getting shorter shotgun/ fighting guns to pattern with anything.

In the old days, some should try 10 different types of ammo and find one that patterned the best.

1" per yard was a great pattern.
10 yards and 10-12" pattern was good.

Hans has a smaller shop. If you need the shop to source parts for your build.... a lot of everything is out of stock.

I don't know of anyone else who does the back boring

Ralston: Did you talk to Cody? I can't believe he would say "Your guess is as good as mine?" Especially after I just talked to him a few days ago.

              Let me know.

Everything that has to be sourced from Remington has been delayed due to the break up of that company.

And if you want just your barrel done it is 10-14 days turn around. The problems start when you want to add parts from Remington.

The easy solution to this is to buy a Mossberg as they are better guns anyway!

I have 9 shot 590A1 and I do like it but would prefer the shorter barrel in hindsight. Also a 930SPX.

Found a deal on a 870 Police and a coworker told me to send it to Vang. He sent one of his and loves it. Takes it camping and it replaced his AR for trips. His recommendation got me reading up more having only heard of Vang Comp prior so I dove right in. YouTube, online articles, and other reading including your sticky posts here put a fire under my a** to send it off. Researched how to carefully mail guns, bought a decent guitar box etc and shipped it in September. Here we are.

Gotta say in these time of the covid, shortages and long lead times are the norm temporarily. So not so bad.

Now here is a sad story that an esteemed member here went through. His shotgun forearm developed a crack in the wood. Sent off the whole gun under warranty to the manufacturer and they gave him the run around for over a year. Then they declared it unrepairable, decided to keep it sending him a check for what they thought it was worth. Basically stole his property. They probably destroyed it. Too bad as some others had the crack repaired locally and are still being used and enjoyed to this day.

I spoke to Cody 2x this week. First time I called he said he wasn't aware why it was taking so long and he'd need to check with the shop foreman.

Didn't hear back so I called again today. Still no idea why it's taking so long.

They have a good reputation for their work, but not sure if it's worth the aggravation.

There is 3 guys working there. Cody, his brother, and his best friend and they all live together.

They are saddled with alot of work right now due to the large HHS order which is a big payday for the shop..

I have been giving them suggestions on how they can improve their output .

Your barrel will ship today as it was coming out of the Cera-Kote oven at 2PM, and it's done and being packaged for UPS as I write this.

                              Hope this helps .

I’ll weigh in with my recent experience with Vang Comp which mirrors the OP’s. I’ve had work done by Vang Comp in the past, including a complete shotgun build and several barrels, back when the shop was owned and run by Hans Vang and operated out of Arizona. My experiences with Vang Comp as operated by Hans were extremely positive. Recently I sent a second 870 off to be rebuilt to the new owner, Cody, who had recently moved the shop from Arizona to Las Vegas. I was provided with a 30 day turnaround estimate, and after almost six months my shotgun was not complete with no ETA. Ultimately it was returned to me after several phone calls and emails with all the work performed absent the installation of a new ejector and refinish of the receiver. Unfortunately I was not notified that this work had not been performed until the shotgun was returned to me and I paid the full invoice (including the cost of ejector replacement and refinish). I reached out to Cody who told me they did not have any ejectors in stock and were awaiting the uncertain outcome of the Remington restructure. Cody promised they would pay the cost to ship the shotgun round trip and install the ejector when they became available. This was over a year ago.

My personal opinion is that Cody is a good guy with good intentions who is in over his head at the moment. The Remington / RemArms fiasco certainly isn’t doing him any favors.
