I definitely agree with you on that. No matter how much you spend, there is always a chance you are going to get a dud.

Agreed. This is why I think the NEF/H&R Pardner pump line is a better value than the 870 Express.

Aippi you can't seriously tell me the older 870's rust like the newer ones. The new ones rust constantly. I treat all my guns with the same clp rubdown after use and the only ones with rust are my newer 870 express (looks terrible) and my 700 (light rust). You can argue that clp isn't great but the rest of my firearms look perfect.

Well, I contacted Davidsons and I be taking it in to my local ffl this weekend. They offered me an option to replace it for the third time if is needed but depends on the dealer dissection, they might let me get store credit and apply it towards another firearm, but that's at the dealer discretion.

It's funny that you mention the that, because no one ever believes me. It's always, Jo you are wrong the army uses 870. The only 870 I saw in country was one some Coast Guard guys had at a chow hall in Kuwait. We weren't even issued 590s, just the 500s like you mentioned. One with a pistol grip and two others with the full stock. I bought a 590 when I got back because how much I was impressed with it over seas.

Take the store credit. Life is too short. Get a Mossberg or a Benelli Supernova.

I don't know much about Mossbergs. But, the Supernova is a very good gun.

Threads like this make me glad I got rid of mine. I had similar issues like the OP has.

Old 870Wingmaster is flawless new wingmasters are decent. I wouldn't own a new one Remington is dead to me as a gun maker, and I love my wingmaster.

The President of Remington and all the top management should be fired. They should lose their homes and be forced to beg on the side of the freeway for what they have done to a once great company.

This is a known problem for years that they have not fixed. Fortunately, this problem only costed me money. It could cost others their lives.

I would like to go on record saying I LOVE the 870 design. I would have loved one that I could depend on. But, idiots have infiltrated and killed Remington. I will never buy another Remington product again.

At least I didn't buy 50,629 Remington products

my mate has an benelli nova and it shoots amazing but davidsons doesn't sell benelli.

                              I'm leaning towards an a300.

Hey berettabattler, this is a known issue with Remington. contact them, they should replace the bolt. I had purchased 2 - 870's, one had this issue. I swapped bolts no issue, bad bolt had same results in other rifle. Once bolt was replaced,it worked fine. Ejector is a little rough and was out of alignment. Remington will either replace extractor or replace the whole bolt. Good luck.
