more 870 problems.

last year, my 870 had nothing but problems. it wouldn't eject, nor would the barrel stay intact. Well, davidsons replaced it with an brand new one.. and guess what, it happened again.. yesterday while shooting, the gun acted up and the breach won't open.. it happened 3 times.. i barely got through 10 shells.

I'm not pleased what so ever, once is okay but twice. that's unacceptable.

what can it be done? can i return it for repair or?

Definitely return it again for repair. However, before you do, have you polished the chamber? That may save you some hassle. Plus, the shotgun will/should function infinitely better.

I have an older 870 and it has been flawless so far. Maybe the new ones are just junk.

If they can let me return it for store credit, I'm going to put it towards an a300. I'm just tired of a gun not cycling and not working when i need to.. I'm disappointed with the remington company.

Make sure the nut at the end of the magazine tube is tight enough and staying locked in place.

I've never had a problem with my 870 except when my hand will occasionally block the ejection port, but thats me not the gun.

I'm running remington gun club target loads along with federal gold meal.

davidsons have an lifetime guarantee, so i should be good. they replaced the 870 last time when it had problems.

I emailed davidons about it and waiting for an reply from them.

I had a sticky chamber with my 870 after shooting about 30 rounds of the cheap Winchester universal loads. I'd have to hit the buttstock on the ground to get the round to eject. I switched to federal universal loads and never had a problem again. The shell casing plastic material in the Winchester rounds were horrible and would melt to the inside of the chamber.

I would recommend returning the 870 and getting something else. Having to polish, rub, molest and massage the shotgun, and then having to find out what kind of shells it likes best like she's a royal princess....really, life's a little too short for this kind of B.S.

If you're going with a semi-auto, from what I've seen at the range, the Beretta A300 is a good choice. You should also look into Weatherby SA-08 or the higher priced Benelli M2.

My wife use a Benelli M2 and that is one I have experience with (since I get to clean it after she shoots ). That thing is very reliable and will eat any shell you care to feed it with. It is also ridiculously easy to keep clean and will keep shooting so long as you have a little lube/oil on the rails the bolt carrier rides on. Just a drop and it'll keep going.

She puts between 100 to 250 shells through her M2 each week as we shoot trap on weekends (sometimes also on week days when we feel like it...), the M2 is one solid shotgun.

I'm leaning towards the a300 for the duck/trap gun and getting the m2 when the funds are available.. Is just ridiculous how the new 870's are build like crap. I'm not pleased at all. I was going to buy an 700 but with this problem, I'm putting my $ towards something else.

i had shot my mate's a300 and I was really impressed with it. is an dependable gun and eat pretty much everything.

One might of been a dud but two sounds like user error. Polish chamber, stroke it like you mean it. No doubt the new ones are crap but they work.

Polishing the tooling marks from the barrel "tab" has done more for me than polishing the chamber ever did. Not all 870's are rough there, but check it out ~ the brass rim of a fired shell can get hung up on the bad ones.

I'm tending to lean towards deckhandmikes opinion. I've hand two that were a little rough, both hated Winchester value packs, but both still worked great. A light sanding with some high grit paper and they have been great.
