Yup, I totally get the current issues at hand. I am a dad who likes to spend time with my wife and kids on the range or out and about on BLM land. My 10 year old's hands are still a little too small for the .9mm, but the .22 is just right. I am thankful for the posts, and the info that has helped me to put together about 2000 rounds of 22lr over the last 6 weeks or so. I am just trying to encourage the others out there that aren't being idiots, but might be new to the group. When my links got shut down yesterday, I rolled up my sleeves and figured it out.....and I am no computer whiz.Comment

Exactly. So here is the dilemma: We can take steps to limit the problem, or stop helping each other out at all.
When this was a true "ammo finds" page, we used to share links and occasionally get something. But since the "links" have been discovered, there hasn't been .22lr listed on cabelas in months. I've checked. Everyone is buying it before it even gets listed.
The cat might be out of the bag, but lets at least close the door to the house.Comment

I honestly can't understand all this worry about who is getting "your" info about "your" ammo. What is really the difference between sharing your find with thousands of Calguns members you don't know from Adam and sharing that info with thousands of S&W members, or thousands of Facebook members? If i post a link the goal is to help out a fellow shooter. If it winds up doing something else, no skin off my a**. On the one hand we're posting something on the internet and on the other hand we want to keep it to ourselves? Kind of a basic conflict there, isn't it? I'd prefer to help out someone who wants a brick or 2 to shoot with the kids vs someone who's going to resell it, or someone who's already got 100k stashed. But by posting on the internet, I lose that choice. And it doesn't bother me. (and no, I do not and will not take info from here and post it somewhere else.)Comment

Just looking at my order history, Cabela's is bone pickings during the first half of the month and a mudslide of something or other the second half. Back orders almost always list the 25th of the next month. I expect blips and mostly nothing for a week or two. Probably for the best. If I get all my back orders, I'll be more than flush for now.Up for rent...Comment

Doesnt bother me either until the open door policy brings in enough riff raff that the cops show up and shut down a nice neighborhood gatheringI honestly can't understand all this worry about who is getting "your" info about "your" ammo. FWIW...people don't have unlimited funds to buy ammo (especially these bunch of Calgunners)
On the other hand, its mostly (but not all) newbies (members within the past 60 days) who share links that are placed on other site to help fuel their low self-esteem; gives them their 15 minutes of BMOC fame.
Thanks for listening.

I think that we are loosing sight of the fact that Cabelas is only one of the sources and the only one with a shopping cart approach---The others like Natches, Midway, Gander etc are all single link entrance and have to be pursued diligently----So things haven't changed much from that perspective.

Toodles! Hopefully this "Time Out" thing works out and creates a larger obstacle for outsiders to jump over.Last edited by bsheriff11; 03-04-2014, 3:05 PM.It takes one to know one.Comment
