just got a UPS pkg from cabelas,

Noticed that they are not using a sticker on the sign that says "small cartridges" like other vendors use, just a generic ORM-D,

For me its good since it is more discreet.

had a UPS guy tell my mom once "someone is going to do alot of shooting soon" when he delivered case of 7.62x39

See my post...that is what I called about today. Mine just said "To Be Picked" and never went to "Backorder" status.

Yup, my Fedex driver likes to bring stuff to my workplace instead of my house because it's closer for him (I've told him not to, but he still does).

              Cabela's uses the symbol
Natchez and Gander Mountain use the text.

After the first mishap, I'm careful now to be the one signing for ammo packages when they arrive.

Very interesting story... thanks for sharing. I'm wondering now why the cops were there in the first place. What would have prompted it? Is it a policy of theirs to report suspicious activity? If so, what is the definition of "suspicious?" Sucks that the store set you up with the "we'll have it on the counter ready for pick up" line. But glad it worked out for you in the end. I'm almost positive the story wouldn't end so nicely for most of us.

I don't think its their business if cabellas is shipping you something, it its obviously not a bomb, no? The packing slip is right on the outside. Do they really think your ordering something "suspicious" to a mailbox store. Come on..

I'd bring my business someplace more American if that's how they do their business.

If it were me, I would have just grabbed my boxes, and refused to answer the cops' questions. What I'm doing with my own purchased property is NOBODY'S business but my own, and certainly not the business of my local PD.

The usual, "am I being detained, am I free to go" line would have probably worked in this circumstance, I bet. I hate to be the one to seemingly stir up things, but I'm paranoid enough that I wouldn't want the PD knowing I just ordered 6 heavy boxes worth of ammo. Might give them "probable cause" to do a house call on me or something. Yes, I'm paranoid, but after all the junk I see in the news, it's hard not to be.

orm-d is standard .... all ammo is stamped this at least from ups from what I recall.

did anyone notice that ammo market place flooded with 22LR, lots of new members who most likely abused this thread to flip on here.

For me if is with UPS, I have my order held at the closest sort center and pick up after work.

I went so often the clerk there asked me where I'm getting all this ammo and how could he get in on it too since his supply was running low.

                              I referred him to here.

Manager was new at the postal center. I'm sure she took it upon herself to call. I'm OK with it. Better safe than sorry.

And the cops were OK. But how would you like it when the big boss calls you on the radio (which he probably rarely does to a patrol officer), says stop what you're doing, gets out from behind his desk and drives to the location to tell you to get back out on patrol.

As for a previous question, I'm in Los Angeles county. Prefer not to mention the city (although I may blurt it out in a future post).
