I also have a backorder at Midway that I placed 12/24/13 with a B/O date of 12/31/13. When they didn't ship, I checked their site (new B/O date of Nov 2014!!) I then called them and customer service told me that they WILL receive some BEFORE Nov 2014, and will send them out , as they receive them, to customers in the order that they were placed. Seems hopeful...

My backorder at Midway was scheduled for 12/31/13 and just moved to 6/40/14! At least I got the free shipping code on it when I ordered...

These larger companies do generally do pretty well with long term backorders. The big challenges are a) you have to keep your credit card updated, and most of them can't do that online and b) if the SKU changes for some reason you're never going to get them. Like if they change from a 375 to a 350 round box or move from with to without an ammo can or whatever.

I have one non-ammo item with a backorder at Cabela's dating from Nov 2012 and it's an item that's always 3-4 weeks to delivery and always on sale. Maybe they figure if they get enough orders the maker will whip up a batch.

I do think we should take this as another indication that the industry is expecting the .22 drought to continue for years, not months, and people need to prepare accordingly. Pile it up deep when you see a deal, ignore gougers, and help out new fellow calguns members with their first .22, especially if they are trying to teach a kid.
