This looks like fun! I live 7 miles from the range. This would be good competition for me and my son. I have oldie but goodie .22s. Remington model 513-T matchmaster with the redfield iron sight that was shot for the first time last month and a Winchester model 52 sporter with a Redfield 4 power scope. The sporter was made in 1948 and not fired until a year ago. Both mint condition and more accurate than I am.

^^^. Very nice target .22's you have listed. Print off the targets, get over to the range and post up some scores. It is a ton of fun and really makes you focus on being a better shooter!

Yes it does. I shot competition for a very short time in 1985 then life took turns with a bride, kids, etc. I was very fortunate to buy a gun collection in 1983. The majority of my guns are pre-64 mint. As for .22s I refuse to buy new ammo since I have 5,000 plus Western SuperX .22 long rifle from the early 50's. (80 cents per 50 back then!) Me and my son shoot the same ammo so all is equal.

First attempt

Saw this thread and thought I'd give it a try. I didn't score anywhere near others who have posted so far, but I figure this is good practice regardless. I was shooting a Remington 513t with some rather low velocity ammo that has bean laying around the house for over 20 years.

I hate to make exscuses for poor shooting, but I found it difficult to even lower my head enough to line up the sights on that rifle, so next month I think I'll try shooting a different gun. Also I think I'll print more than one target and post my best attempt (if that's within the rules that is).

Welcome to the matches. I was not a very good shooter 1 yr ago but since participating in these matches my skills have greatly improved. Not a competition shooter by any stretch of the imagination but I can at least hold my own in these matches once in a while. Keep at it and you'll get better. Shoot as many targets as you want, post em all or just the best ones. Totally up to you.

I probably shoot 30-40 targets every month in these matches.

I really enjoy practicing with rimfire, hopefully I can improve enough to eventually be a little competative in these matches. With the way usmcchet and TC are shooting, I can see I have alot of work to do.

Despite our adopted daughter (and another on the way), I've been able to get a fair amount of trigger time shooting my target airguns (.177 pellets) at home.

We've got three acres so my neighbors aren't much of an issue, but even in a much smaller lot it's doable (the 10 meter gun isn't very loud, and the "field" gun is shrouded so the hammer's louder than the report.

It's nice to have an option to shoot even if you've only got 20 minutes and the range is 30 minutes away.

100yd Scoped with Marlin 925M

Shot the 100yd Scoped Target today. Score = 58. Tried the 50yd scoped target but would be embarassed to post the results.

Shot the 25 yd iron target today with two different rifles. First was my Zastava Z5 with a new Leapers 4 MOA Red Dot sight. Worked great once I figured out that the adjustments were backwards. Left was right and up was down. Score was 104 with Eley Targt Ammo. I also shot this rifle with American Eagle 38gr HV HP el cheapo ammo and scored a 103. Only one point difference between $1.59/50 and $9.00/50 ammo. The AE is decent stuff @ 25 yds.

Second target was my CZ UltraLux with BRNO Target Sights and Federal 711B Ammo courtesy of CMP. Score was 106.

Great shooting this month and a good turnout with some new shooters.

I hope we can do as well next month. I'm looking around for some interesting targets. If anyone has seen any targets they would like to try in the match please let me know I'll check them out for consideration.
