Thanks for posting. Just in time, as I'm about to head out to the range. I'm assuming from the way the post is written that the "no do-overs" rule is off the table? I know posting a target and later posting an improved score for the same event is more work for those that kindly volunteer their time, but I feel like it encourages more participation.Comment

We'll use the Black Death target for the ammo.Comment

Calguns t-shirts were up for grabs at the beginning of last year for winners of the specified targets. Izzy43 got that going in conjunction with pennysdad. I think it brings more interest if there is something to compete for. Especially since it gets a little top heavy with the same folks winning all the time. The problem I've always had with that is it is no longer a match.
Also, not everyone goes shooting more than twice a month - some simply can't because of "family" arrangements for example.
Match format keeps it simple.
When you allow redos within a specified time period - you're basically moving in the direction of "best score marathons", "single-elimination" and "double-elimination" tournaments, "best of #", etc...
Perhaps what is really need to boost attendance is a little advertising?
Is this monthly match really even noticed by anyone outside the Rimfire Forum on Calguns?
I'll tell folks at Metcalf - some who are know Calgunners what I'm doing - and they'll ask: "What's that?"
Here's the good thing though - the Remington Eley Target 50ct is up for grabs again for whatever target PeterRabbits specifies as the target to shoot.
Newcomers who check in after a little "advertising" will be looking for some kind of "reward" opportunity.
Perhaps Kestryll can help?

Need clarification
Pistol match - 15 yds benched - any sights?
15 yds off hand - any sights?
Same for 25 yds?
In other words do iron sights compete against scopes?
If not then a full 15yd Pistol match would consist of 4 targets?
1. 15 yd benched irons sights
2. 15 yd benched scopes
3. 15 yd offhand irons sights
4. 15 yd offhand scopes
Repeat for 25 yds.
Also does Red dot include lasers ?
(I'm not dim - just too much shooting with provided cotton "ear protection" - The old days.

september match
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following are the target classes:
Pistol: 15 yard and 25 yard . Offhand and bench rest are scored separately. Iron sights, red dot
or non-magnifed scope. There will be one winner each for 15 yd and 25 yd offhand and bench rest.
Rifle Open Irons: 25 yard, 50 yard and 100 yard open rear sights only. This class of shooting is
determined by the type of rear sight on the rifle. Open rear sight of the Buckhorn (notched) or
similar type only. Any type of front sight is allowed as long as there is no magnification.
Rifle Aperture Irons: 25 yard, 50 yard and 100 yard aperture sights only. This class of shooting
is determined by the type of rear sight on the rifle. This involves a rear sight consisting of a small
hole or "peep". Any type of front sight is allowed as long as there is no magnification.
Rifle Scoped: 50 yard and 100 yard fixed or variable scopes of your choice. Scope
minimum distance focus, parallax, zoom, "haze" and lighting among other things will drive your
scope selection.
This is an online match. Print all targets at 100%. Colored targets may be printed in grayscale to
save on color ink. Shoot where and when you want. Annotate on the target the distance, type of
sights used, positions used for pistol and your score:
Distance : Pistol : Benched : Score
Distance : Pistol : Offhand : Score
Distance : Rifle : Open Irons : Score
Distance : Rifle : Aperture Irons : Score
Distance : Rifle : Scope : Score
Take a picture of your target(s) and post in this thread for bragging rights! Match runs from the
first day of the month until the last day of the month. Shoot as many targets as you want and post
your best target for each class. Once you post a target for one particular class - no redos!
Note: If the shot is touching the line, it is scored on the higher number.
I encourage meeting up with other match shooters. Any rimfire firearm is eligible. Shooting from a
benchrest, prone, sitting, standing, hood of your car, leaning against a tree is acceptable.
Using a rest in which the rifle/pistol can be locked down is not allowed.
[Bonus Points]
This applies for targets that have multiple shots on one target. We shoot the targets as normal and
add up the scores like normal. The twist is we shoot for groups as well. For example, if we are
shooting 5 shots on each target if none of the 5 bullet holes are touching you get no bonus points.
If two are touching you get 2 bonus points. If three are touching you get 3 bonus points on up to
5 bonus points for each target.
Occasionally, specialized targets are posted that have their own bonus points schema. The
instructions for those particular targets are to be followed in those instances.
Please limit posts in the match thread to target posts, scoring guidance and kudos to other shooters.
These matches are based on “Gentlemen's / Ladie's Honor” so go shoot and have fun.
Note: If you really think someone scored a hit too low on a target - be generous - tell 'emLast edited by peterabbits; 09-06-2014, 3:47 PM.Comment
