    Its cool...but it ain't no Kimber 82G.

I think when I do my month I'll require all rifle shooting to be done standing...I'd like to see you hold that beast up without a bench.

How many days left do you have to wait?

How bout we both take an Appleseed class. I'm a little rusty on my form so I shouldn't be giving any classes on proper technique...been doing waaaay too much bench shooting

Plus it will help in all these long rang silhouette matches you are shooting in the prone position.

          FEB 2014 SCORES

I went to the range and shot these targets, but the place was crazy. There was at least 3 guys shooting AR 15's with the Slidefire grips that sounds full auto. Maybe a little hard to concentrate but when they noticed that I was trying to shoot match targets they were cool about letting me know when they about to rock & roll. !!!!CLEAR !!!!! Oh well here are my targets.

          15 YARD PISTOL BENCHREST 108
          15 YARD PISTOL OFFHAND 90

          25 YARD PISTOL BENCHREST 104
          25 YARD PISTOL OFFHAND 90

25 YARD RIFLE IRONS 183 APERTURE SIGHTS
25 YARD RIFLE IRONS 168 STOCK BLADE SIGHTS

I took the scope off the Marlin model 60 and used the stock Blade sights. I also used a Merit Optical attachment on my shooting glasses, I use this attachment for my Iron sight Military and some Pistol matches when red dots or scopes are not allowed. For some of you that have a hard time seeing the Blade sights on your rifle, maybe give one a try, it makes a big improvement.

That bench rest pistol shooting is unreal. Nice job!

              25 Yard Irons

Only had time this month for the 25 yard iron with aperture sights. Switched out the rear sight aperture which was fixed to a variable Gehmann 510 iris which produced a much clearer sight picture.

That 104 in the 25Y bench won't be enough to win either.

Is this what happens when the silhouette matches @Sac Valley distract you from rimfire?

You know that am impressed with your scores. That's what this match is all about. You have your sights set on beating my scores and in the meantime your own skills improve. Great shooting guys and I can't wait to see your targets. I didn't think a 104 would be good enough and the 90 can be improved upon, that's why I posted my scores now, but we still have time to post more this month. Mrrabbit I knew you would be happy with the S&W, it's a nice gun.

                    15 yd offhand pistol--hit a 92 with Ruger 22/45 MkIII and Federal Game-Shoks.
Didn't do the bench or the 25 yd.

Went to the range on lunch but they were too busy to wait around.

I changed a few things up this month. I put a new Whistle Pig aluminum barrel on the charger. I can use it as my offhand pistol now, the whole pistol weighs as much as the old barrel alone. Also, I realized I was dragging my giant bugger hook on the side of my Colt and I need to make a huge effort to stop. Scores are much better when technique is good. I really wanted to shoot the 25Y offhand again on lunch without drag. Next month I guess...

                      Pistol 15Y offhand - 88

                      Pistol 25Y bench - 106

                      pistol 25Y offhand - 83

It's pretty cool how much you can do with a tiny hole close to your eye. I added the Gehmann to my rifle also and I was surprised what it did for my sight picture.

                          50 yard scoped - MrRabbit (10)

Here are the rules for the March 2014 match (copied from PeteRabbits):

Following are the classes of Targets.

Pistol: 15 and 25yd . Offhand and bench rest scored separately. Iron sights, red dot or non-magnifed scope. One winner for 15 yd and 25 yd each offhand and bench rest.

Rifle-Iron Sights: 25yd, 50yd and 100yd Aperture Sights only. This class of shooting is determined by the type of rear sight on the rifle. Any type front sight is allowed as long as there is no magnification.

Rifle Iron Sights: 25yd, 50yd and 100yd Open Rear Sight only. This class of shooting is determined by the type of rear sight on the rifle. Open rear sight of the Buckhorn (notched) or similar type only. Any type of front sight is allowed as long as there is no magnification.

Rifle Scoped: 50yd and 100yd. No limit on magnification.

This is an online match. Print all targets at 100%. Colored targets may be printed in grayscale to save on color ink, shoot where and when you want. Annotate on the target the Distance, Score and type of sights used (ie. Scope, Aperature, Open, Red Dot). Take a picture of your target(s) and post in this thread for bragging rights!!Match runs from the 1st day of the month until the last day. Shoot as many targets as you want and post up to two targets for each target class.

Note: If the shot is touching the line, it is scored on the higher number.

I encourage meeting up with other match shooters. Any rimfire firearm is eligible. Shooting from a benchrest, prone, sitting, standing, hood of your car, leaning against a tree is acceptable. Using a rest in which the Rifle/Pistol can be locked down is verboten (ie. can't do that).

                          Bonus Points:

This is only on targets that have multiple shots on one target. We shoot the targets as normal and add up the scores like normal. The twist is we shoot for groups as well. For example, if we are shooting 5 shots on each target. If none of the 5 bullet holes are touching you get no bonus points. If two are touching you get 2 bonus points. If three are touching you get 3 bonus points on up to 5 bonus points for each target.

Limit posts in the Match Thread to Target Posts and kudos to other shooters. These matches are based on “Gentlemen's/Ladie's Honor” so go shoot and have fun.

Make sure for each target indicate your total score and if not already indicated on the target note the distance shot and what type of sights. Ex: Score =xxx, Open or Aperture Sights, Scope, Red Dot. No fair shooting iron sight targets with a scope for score.

Pistol: We will use the same targets for offhand and bench rest shooting. Mark your targets accordingly.

15 yd Pistol: Use 50 yd irons target. Shoot 5 shots per bull (10 shots total), score accordingly.

25 yd Pistol: Use 100 yd irons target. Shoot 10 shots, score accordingly.

Rifle: we will use the same target for blade style and aperture style sights, aperture sights will be scored separately from blade style sights. Mark your targets accordingly.

                          Irons:

We have one target for 25 yd irons this month. Shoot the standard bullseye target. Don't shoot the timed target.
25 yd irons: Use 25 yd irons target. Shoot 3 shots per bull (18 total). Score accordingly. Center is 10, then as marked.

50 yd irons: Use 50 yd irons target. Shoot 5 shots per bull (10 total). Score accordingly.

100 yd irons: Use 100 yd irons target. Shoot 10 shots, score accordingly.

50 yd scoped: Use 50 yd scoped target, shoot 5 shots per bull (15 total), score accordingly. Center is 10, then as marked.

100 yd scoped: Use 100 yd scoped target, shoot 5 shots per bull (10 total), score accordingly. Center is 10, then as marked.

SHOOT THE TARGETS AS POSTED IN POSTS #2083 and #2084 (Page 53) of this thread:

Slow month! I really should have made time for 15Y bench & 25Y rifle since all I need to do is step out my back door. Lots of un-shot targets also, I really want to keep the KYL & Black Death targets in my files for fun.

                            Nice shooting all!

Did I read somewhere the contest is only for California residents? I was born in San Jose. Does that count?
