The Nikon website says "1/4" @ 50yds" which would equate to approximately 1/2 MOA at that distance.

1" @ 100yds = 1MOA
1/2" @ 50yds = 1MOA
1/4" @ 25yds = 1MOA

Not gonna be good for precise target work but OK I would think for plinking/hunting.

Yes the adjustments are 1/4" @50 yds. Since MOA at that distance is 1/2" a smaller adjustment would be better for target work. Most of my target scopes are 1/4" @ 100yds so they are 1/8" @ 50yds. I didn't get the Target EFR model for that reason as it won't be precise enough.

However the BDC model is primarily a hunting/plinking scope so that large of an adjustment is fine for what it is designed for. I will be using it for shooting at larger targets out to 150yds, things like 6" steel plates at the longer distances. Should be fine for that. For 50yd bullseye targets I use a 6.5-20X scope for precision shooting.

Best to think about something in the 24X range for that type of shooting. I use a 8-32X on my .17HMR for those ranges out to and beyond 100yds for tight groups. 9X won't do it. Many serious target shooters stop using 9x after 25yds, use fixed 24x for 50yds and 36X or higher for 100yds. Those scopes in good quality get expensive. $350 and up. Many 24 and 36x Leupold's mounted on .22 rifles. Too rich for my blood.

Izzy, what would you put on a Henry Frontier? It would be the first scope I've ever had and I'd like to be able to shoot 50-75 yards with reasonable accuracy but also just for plinking. I'm concerned the 3x9-40 Target EFR is too big for the rifle. Would the 4x32 be a better choice?

I also have a Frontier and think the scope would look a little big on it and also would mount kind of high so it might be a problem with head/eye position. A 32mm objective would be better. Maybe look at Weaver RV-9 or even RV-7 as an alternative.

I recently installed a Lyman 17A front peep and a rear tang sight on my Frontier and find that works well out to the ranges that you are looking for but that's a personal preference. Maybe best to look over at rimfirecentral and see what scopes the folks are using on their Henry's. Great rifle by the way.

Would 4x32 be enough for shooting at 100 yards (farthest my local ranges of Los altos and Sunnyvale go) and for Sunnyvale rod and gun club silhouette shooting? 35 is very tempting.
