Nice to see this rifle will make the most out of golden turds.

I'm so excited to pick this up next month...

Turners has the 452 Ultra Lux on sale. I was looking @ the 10/22 for my son. Well I could not let a perfectly good dros go to waste. You know two birds with one stone. The two are doing their time 7 days & a wake up.

You're going to really like the CZ.
I found mine on the floor rack, at Markleys (Watsonville). Fair price for a nice little rifle. Mine had the boxed/labeled as a Special tho - not a trainer.
The way my eyes are acting these days, I scoped the Special with a Simmons 22Mag 3-9x32 Hunting scope and not with a large varmint scope.
Makes a nice little field 22

          Good Luck,

          Bruce

            Awesome, congrats!

Is the price Turners currently has on that Ultra Lux competitive?

Looks like a really nice .22

I have the Mil Trainer and it is my favorite long gun to shoot. Shoulders and points better than anything else I own and even with these old eyes and iron sights it's a laser beam! It's so accurate I want to scope it, but I like the irons so well, I won't! What a great problem to have, huh?

Oh, and even though it's the Trainer model, it has MUCH nicer wood than the Thompson Center I got that was more expensive.

You know, my plan was to buy it from Markleys. But two weeks ago, when I called to inquire about it and I mentioned my age, they said that they wouldn't sell a long gun to someone under 21.

I made a rant thread about that, but I'm done being pissed off. I'm simply going to a store that does want my business (Valkyrie in Milpitas). Can't wait to go get it----I have the money in cash set aside and ready to go!

That was the original deal with the city of Watsonville & Markley's (Ward & Scotty). They're very accomodating & good people (most). There aren't many mom & pop gun shops left.
I've purchased many firearms there. Try to be patient - you'll get there

I noticed there are a LOT of CZ enthusiasts, but no real answer to your question.....

I don't own one, but as a firearms instructor, rangemaster, armorer, it seems to me that the "gentle curve" is there to raise the sight radius of the rifle for the new shooter. Generally new shooters (and some experienced ones) have a tendency to drop their shoulder, plant the butt of their rifle, and then have to drop their head in order to acquire a sight picture and proper cheek weld. If you raise the "sight plane" you can limit the tendency to do that and encourage a tendency to sight properly.

This is an obvious observation by the maker to deal with a novice shooter's issue and to try to get them into a more relaxed position, whether freehand or prone, and eliminating some bad habits early on.

I've heard good things about CZ, although I've never owned one. Maybe one day? Good for you for giving your son gun safety training early on. I learned to shoot when I was 7 and in the ensuing 53 years I've NEVER had an A.D. or pointed a firearm at anyone I didn't intend to shoot (and I've pointed them at LOTS of folks - 2 years combat infantry and 27 years LE including 3 years SWAT)

I thought post #2 answered it nicely!

                            You did too!

                            Correct sir! Many CZ enthusiasts!!!

Unfortunately for logistical reasons, I'll practically have to for November (but I have my CASH set aside and everything else is G2G).

I was doing more reading about the CZs and I learned that they very tight bores and that cleaning rods need to be 0.17" or 0.20" dia because 0.22" will actually seize up.

Does having a tight bore technically contribute to accuracy? I always assumed that would somehow slow the round down.

Also, is the 452 action proprietary or is it based off Mauser actions? Not that it matter, but it makes me curious.

And how often will it need to be cleaned?

                              And one more thing:

What would be your opinion of placing a USGI web sling on a the Trainer? Would that work? (I want it mainly for practicality's sake--and because I assume that a leather 1907 type sling needs more maintenance compared the USGI web).

I tried the Trainer at a local store.

I noticed action on the bolt was not smooth, was it not oiled? Loved the trigger.
