That's good to know, sounds like I'll be making a good purchase.

Though I've only found it for sale [new] on two websites, J&G and Impact Guns. I googled searched all the way to page 30 (I even found this very thread on the search listing before I got through 30 pages) and I figured that I'll probably won't find what I need after that.

I just hope the closest FFL can give me a good deal.

I looked it up and found this:
This is just a 2008 product list, please call for availability
Think I should write them up asking to the total price to ship to CA?

I'm honestly hoping that the FFL I go to takes the initiative and orders the rifle from for a more competitive price--so that my money can stay local, he makes some profit, and I benefit as a customer. I heard that FFLs that are known to be good at making money often do something like this instead of just settling for a transfer fee.

It's up to you whether you want to call them for their price.

When I bought my CZ452s, they were the cheapest by far and was recommended to me on rimfirecentral.com

Thank you guys! I appreciate it.

From what I've seen Buds is the best deal for me. Now I'll just have to figure out what Markley's FFL transfer fee is.

And I have one more question, if I buy the rifle from out of state--do I need to worry about sales tax, DROS fee, and that stupid mandatory gun lock?

You do have to pay DROS fee and deal with the silly gun lock.

However, sales tax seems to be up to the FFL. Most FFLs I've talked to do collect it, but here and there you'll find one that doesn't.

That one looks nice, but one thing that the other has going for it are it's iron sights. I can't afford a scope and especially not after not after getting screwed with all those fees.

I can see a spot in the safe for a nice bolt-action 22 in the future!

If you like the Euro look they have a full stocked version that looks like it belongs in the "Schwarzwald" chasing rabbits.
The 28" barrel is on the Ultralux, not the Lux.
I bought the 28" barrel Ultralux from Whittaker's guns 6-7 years ago for $191 brand new.

The unusually long barrel extends the sight radius by quite a bit, that helps in accurately aiming with iron sights.

The unexpected bonus from such a long barrel is how quiet the rifle is to shoot.

It looks like it's the exact same rifle with the only difference being the type of wood (which doesn't bother me). I just want this supposedly good trigger and sight combo.

Anyone have experience with the "Trainer?"
I do. The 452 Trainer is a fantastic rifle for the money, can't get any better than that. Unless you are willing to shell $1,200 for an Anschutz.

Nope. I've tried an Anschutz, and they are nice. But not for $1.2K. That's not for me.

I am also wondering, which sling is good for the 452 for practical shooting?

I love my trainer(and my American too for that matter).

                                And the American

And here is a group at 25 yards with my elbow resting on a railing. I was shooting Remington Golden Turds and some federal Champion.
