.22 is a ton of cheap fun! Why worry about spending loads of money on ammo when you are primary shooting paper? I shot a tacticool .22 ebr and it was nice. Something cheap in terms of ammo and you can shoot all day.

Thats exactly why I got a S&W M&P-15 .22lr. I was going to build another 5.56 AR, but, I got to thinking hard about the money aspect, and thought, heck, I already have a decent AR, why do I really need another one? Well, I do, BUT, I went the .22lr route, like you said, ammo is way cheaper.

The last time I took out my AR just over 3 weeks ago, I put 110 rounds down range...the cost, $44 for the ammo, at least. Now that I have an AR platformed in .22lr, shooting that same amount of ammo will cost me $4.40!! Big difference!!

I mean personally I wasn't a huge fan of .22. I knew it had a purpose but didn't realize how much fun it can be in the AR platform. I wouldn't get a .22 AK but an AR, 10/22 or 795 not a problem. Heck one of those value packs of 550rds would last awhile at the range. I've had my eye out for a cheap .22 rifle but not a lot of luck yet.

Well, Turners has the 795 on sale right now, $109 after rebate. I was thinking of getting one just for the heck of it.

I was not a big fan of anything .22lr for the longest time. Now I have a Marlin 60 .22lr and a Savage Model 93 in .22 WMR and now my S&W in .22lr.

The AK, yeah, I don't like that one, yet, in .22lr. I had a 7.62x39 semi auto AK, but I traded it, it was just not my thing. I like the AR platform for the "evil" rifles in my safe.

Haha yeah I am in NorCal so maybe I'll wait around for Big 5 or something to have the 795 on sale. I do like the old c&r single shot .22s. Just gotta find someone in NorCal that wants to sell me one for cheap.

My favorite Tacticool .22 is the Professional Ordnance Carbon 15 .22. Pro Ord went out of business and I think Bushmaster bought the rights to the "Carbon 15" name. This one has a carbon fiber upper, lower, handguard, and stock assembly. This is the only .22 cal marked Pro Ord Carbon 15 lower/upper I have ever seen. She's a tac drivin' mofo
