If not a ar lower, get the sr22! You can tinker with it, unlike the plastic toys. it is all metal too, and it is cheaper than the other tacticool rifles.

A little dissapointed with my M&P 15 out of he box, only because that button on the mag that makes loading easier is missing. And its the full 25 round mag but is blocked at 10, so it wont sit on a bench well and is just for show really. Got more ammo than I will ever need and am heading to the range soon.

You didn't notice this before you bought it? when you picked it up, you didn't look at it again?
Maybe they switched it out on you...?
I would say, IMO, it's a little harsh to say you are disappointed in the rifle itself for those minor issues, but I mean to say it seems you are more disappointed in the accessories.

why dont u just get another mag? i need at least 3-4 mags when i go to the range for quick changes. you could probably even give SW a call since this issue was "out of the box".

Yeah I will call them up, I found out possibly why mine came without though. Before I go into that though yes it was wrong to say Im dissapointed with th rifle, but to be fair I figured it came from the factory like that. I am not well trained enough to look for the button on the mag when I inspected it, my fault entirely.
It was not sealed in the box, had been handled and such by staff and people who wanted to see it before I bought it, at some point the button dissapeared is all. 95% sure it wasnt S&W who made the mistake.

The rifle is a bit front heavy though, its an odd thing that Ive never experienced before. Never handled one with so much polymer.

I'd like to think that reliability, function and accuracy are part of the equation. If you want a rad AR-rifle and don't want centerfire, get an Airsoft. Load it up with lights and lasers and vertical grips and shoot it in the kitchen into a box with a phone book in it. Being restricted to 10 round mags and spotty performance to have a S&W or Colt 22 doesn't make sense

Spotty performance? On which .22lr AR type rifles are you referring to? Clarification and References please, if you don't mind.

For the S&W M&P 15 .22lr, I have heard/read nothing but good things, and pretty much the same for the Colt AR .22lr.

OR< is this just your opinion?

I once was like you, and was against .22lr AR style rifles, but I am a converted man so far...cheaper ammo on the same platform without putting the wear and tear on my Centerfire AR. And I only use 10 round mags on my centerfire AR, as I just do not like the MMG look. SO, I will deal with the 10 rounders on both, I am used to it now.

                  I know that's what I did!

That's what I did as well and I couldn't be happier with its performance!

Using C Products 10 round magazines in my AR-15...just to be "safe"...

The M&P 15 was a blast! Shoots true (albeit a bit to the right, has to be sighted in properly of course), had a lot of fun at the range. Put 300 rounds through it, both the bulk ammo and some Remington Viper, not a single jam or misfire. I got good at clearing the chamber and catching the round too!
It spits shells with authority, my brother peppered the side of the poor guy next to me and I frantically apologized. He was very nice and understanding, "I was wondering what that was, guess I should know not to sit to the right of a semi-auto .22"

I took a bad cell video which I'll post later, cant see or hear a thing over the report of the larger rifles next to us.

All in all its a great gun with a whole lot of spirit for a .22. Very consistent, I will stick on my scope to be sure of that. Was able to sight in a 5 inch target at 25 yards without a miss, my brother didnt fair so well but its his first time I forgive him

                      T minus 1 day

So I am picking up my M&P on monday!! Jail stinks! I think it is awesome because it follows the same form function as all AR's including the trigger group. That means I can go to the range waaay more and actually help my shooting skills on the AR. Pretty cool!

So, nothing to back up your claims of spotty performance in the S&W and Colt?
And to think you are suggesting using an Airsoft over an actual real .22 rifle?

Lets see if this works [sorry for cell phone quality]

**edit** shot 350 rounds and one of the bulk rounds stovepipe'd, no jams or anything else since. It wasnt me shooting when it happened I was in the next stall with a pistol, so no clue if it was the ammo or the rifle
