    Best tacticool .22 rifle?

I'm trying to figure out which black .22 rifle to get, help me out.
It would be just a plinker. Budget $400-500 (inspired by the recent Big5 coupons.)

    Priorities:
    1) Reliability/durability (prefer metal over plastic)
    2) Parts availability (magazines, spares, barrels)
    3) Value (eg. could I build up a 10/22 for less than the SR22)

    Remington 597 VTR:

    S&W M&P 15-22:

    'Colt' M4:

    Ruger SR22:

Home built Ruger 10/22 + Nordic:
    (similar to SR22)

Home built Ruger 10/22 + Archangel:

    GSG5:

    Other:
    Are there other options?

I was in the same boat and have decided to go with the S&W..

    I also liked the Sig.

I went through the same thing, in the end I picked the Sig 522 classic, with the S&W 15-22 a very close second ( so close I'm currently saving up to get it next, preferably with the flash hider )

I'm happy with the Sig, ran about 600 rounds through it without a problem. It ran about $560 OTD from SoCal Guns. I live out in the east county, if you want to try mine out before you decide send a pm.

OMG - you guys are tricking out .22's? I'm a girl and I would be worried about people laughing at me!! I saw a guy with a tactical .22 out in the desert and everybody was calling him Ralphie with his red rider bb gun. Just fair warning! LOL

Used the 20% off coupon from Big 5 and pulled the trigger to get the M&P 15-22. Was looking at the Sig but no work right now so $400 plus tax and dros. is all I could do. Plus it came with rails and sights something the Sig doesn't have. hope it holds up and works when I pick it up. Saved $100 on the price of the gun itself plus what it would cost to add sights and a rail to the Sig 522. Oh well had to get one or the other soon anyway. The coupon put me over the top.

Not everyone can afford to buy a $700+ rifle and shoot $12+ per 20rds ammo.

I happen to like my GSG5 but, a 10-22 would be a better investment. It will last forever and parts will always be available. I see no need to waste money on a AR15 look-a-like when, you can build a real AR15 with a dedicated .22lr upper. BTW, If I could have bought a real MP5 in .22lr, I wouldn't have bought a GSG5.

                  I have 8 more days until I can pick up my S&W M&P15 .22lr.

Do your research, buy what you want, don't buy anything someone on a forum tells you to buy as you will always get a biased opinion on what they think is best for you. Only you know what is best for you.

Thats when I pull out the big toys, and when everyone comes over asking to shoot my stuff I tell them GFY lol

Just got done paying for my S&W 22.. $459.99 OTD... Didnt hassle me at with the 20% coupon. The manager checked the coupon out as we were doing the paperwork and when the girl rang me up she actually gasped when it took $100 dollars off lol

How sad....a person should be able to shoot what they want without people making snide comments. Just because I might be shooting a .22 doesn't mean I could't bring out my heavy duty stuff. I couldn't imagine shooting with a group of people and ridiculing a fellow shooter. When those laughing people run out of money and components for their big 50 BMG/DTC caliber rifles, they'll be sad they don't have a .22...

I would go with a 10/22 or a real AR lower with dedicated 22lr upper.
I have a lower set aside for a target model tactical solutions upper.
I just have too many things to get done, parts to find, but it would save me $ when at the range. I just don't shoot that often.

I'm just teasing you guys Don't be mad! I also think guys who wear sweater vests are sexy...but they still get teased LOL!!! I actually love shooting .22. My dad gave me a marlin when I was little and I still shoot that. I've actually only shot the big stuff - 50 cal/.308 a couple of times. I just think shooting the big guns is a TOTALLY a different experience...scary and exciting and a sense of power...that's what I loved about it compared to .22. Hope you guys aren't mad at me
