New (to me) 795

Just picked up my 795. I got it on Gunbroker from a guy in GA for 80 shipped, after paying Gussler's 60 for DROS and transfer I am in 140. I absolutely cannot complain, everything seems in working order and it is pretty clean. Supposedly he only put 100 rounds through it (isn't that what they all say on Gunbroker) and after dealing with him I wouldn't be surprised judging by the amount of shooting grime. Ordering another magazine and some tech sights. If anyone has a source for sub $16 magazines let me know.

Check out Big5 if you have one near ya. IIRC, price of the mags were $13, excluding tax.

Last time I bought mags at Big 5, the were 17ish, but I used the 20% off coupons.

BUDS has them for $12.00 per + shipping of ??? BIG 5 price of $13.00 might be equally good or better ..... BUDS shipping can be a tad high on small items.

my 795 had a similar problem

the front tech sight when mounted was skewed to the right. Turns out the screw hole was off centered. I had to send it back to marlin for a fix which took around 4 months I think. They gave me a free mag for my troubles

For elevation adjustment I use a wooden disposable chop stick and for windage I use a coin

Same as mine, sent back for repair. Rifle was fixed and returned within 2 weeks. Shoot quarter size groups all day long at 25 yards.

Just called big5 and they carry the magazine, $17.99 and I just missed the 20% coupon (expired on the 20th). Buds has them for 12 but shipping is $9, cant swing that unless I were to buy a bunch of them.

FYI, Turner's Outdoorsman is having a sale on the Marlin 795 this week (Sept. 24-30) for $134.98. Don't forget that Marlin has the $25 rebate for the 795 until the end of the year, so $134.98 - $25 rebate means $109.98 (not counting tax and DROS).

Burned up the gun fund this month already or I'd consider getting another one and putting tech sights on it.

Yes. If you have never loaded a marlin 795 mag you wouldn't understand.

I guess years of loading Mark II mags has made my fingers numb. The Marlin mags are the easiest .22lr mags I have ever had to load.
