Also keep a lookout for turner's. They have them on sale pretty regularly for $109 after rebate.

It would be nice if the sale will come this month.... or did I miss it?
I know for a fact it was on sale at the beginning of Nov last I saw... why? Because I purchased my 15-22 (also was on sale) that same week and *almost* decided to slap a 795 into the DROS at the same time... looking back, I should have done it since I am really tempted to throw together a super low-budget LTR for Appleseed. I even already have a spare PA Micro-dot RDS sitting here that was originally on my Ruger Mk III pistol, but since the shooting league I joined is irons-only for .22 rimfire, it's idle for the time being...

Ah well... as of yet, it has not returned to sale status since early-Nov. I'd expect it any week now, which would be great since the Marlin $25 rebate deal ends 12/31/2010.

Keep your eyes peeled... it should be imminent. The 10/22 was on sale this week... and last time I saw the 10/22 on sale, it was the week before the Marlin 795 showed up.

There's got to be an alternative, anyone here have any suggestions?
Supposedly the Baby-UpLula speed loader works. Though, TBH, it isn't that bad, IMO...make some lovely and unsightly calluses!

Well, I got my rifle back from repair and it seems like they didn't fix my canted front sight problem. I installed my tech sights just to be sure and looks the same. Here is a crappy drawing I made.

I'm going to try to sight in my tech sights just to make sure. If I can't sight it in properly, I will put the sights up for sale in the classified section and just go with a fixed power scope.

I have this stock also. The angle IS a lot more than I would like. I built up the cheekweld about 1" with a piece of plastic (old [unused] urinal partition material) It's held in place by double sided tape and an elastic shotgun shell holder where I store my extra mags. The angle is more of a problem in the prone position. At Appleseed this year, the upper part was just barely catching my shoulder. Still made rifleman so I can't say it was too much of an issue.
I was planning on redoing my cheekweld piece attachement to get it more secure and will probably end up extending it back to the buttplate to give it more purchase.

I bought mine from CheaperThenDirt for $10 couple months ago. Not sure if they still have them for sale or not.

I think it's a great first gun. If you're not in a hurry, you can find them cheaper. I got mine at Sport's Authority for $95 after rebate.

I have the ati stock as well and its shoulders really well, for me anways. I have as imple 4-32 scope on it and it works very well. The only thing that sucks is I didnt mill the stock enough, so the trigger has a little more play then the original stock. Not too bad as it still functions well.

I didn't receive my scope this week as I thought I would so that will go on next week. I also just received my Caldwell NXT rest the other day. I am going to go ahead and bring the Marlin to the range tommorow for kicks and test out the iron sights. My rear sight was installed crooked, looking down sights it is way to the right. Very tiny rifle compared to my old bolt action. Looking forward to tommorow!

I also used the Krylon Camouflage paints (khaki, olive, brown) ... forgot to add that I used Krylon Matte clear on top of the paint in hopes of added durability
