Got mine Saturday and shot 200 rds through it, straight out of the box. Shot Minimags, Stingers, and Federal 550 36gr all from Walmart, funny thing is they are all hollow points, didn't see any regular ones. Only got 2 ftf and no fte. Used the stock sights and managed a 1 inch group of 10 shots only from 7yds standing position (first time shooting rifles). Depending on the next few hundred rounds, I might polish the feedramp to make feeding a little bit better. Next purchase for me is a scope in the $50 range just for plinking. Very happy with my purchase.

Looks like it's the newer models that are getting the touch up...
Allen wrench screws and entire bolt polished.

Mine has the polished bolt but flat head screws.

My MM457XXG has the flat head screws on the trigger guard. I just picked it up on Monday. Maybe the newer ones are getting the allen heads?

I bought a 795 at at Big 5 in around 04.I think it ran me around 120 bucks on sale.Very accurate little rifle microgrooved barrel.It is more spot on over open sights than my 10/22 any day.

510hunter, did you check out the bolt and see if it was evenly finished?! Others only had one side polished...

Mine too has the Allen wrench screws on the trigger guard. serial # is MM576XXG

Got my 795 last Monday and noticed...
1) the bolt wasn't pitted (unfinished) as others have mentioned
2) Allen wrench screws were used on the trigger guard instead of the traditional Flat screws

Wondering if Remington is finally stepping up in it's QC DEPARTMENT?
I love this rifle BTW!

Interesting (especially the allen screws change) what does your serial number look like so people have a reference that MM???XXXG and newer are in better shape
