do you have a link or anything for that top rail? Thanks for the info on the bipod, i was lookin at it and was like theres nothin to mount to. Can you still have a sling after you connect the bipod? Thanks

The bipod is set up for either Picatinny or using the supplied 4 piece adapter mount on the sling stud.
The parts are:
Enlarged threaded sling stud adapter
Retaining screw to go thru the eye of the adapter and the original stud
Locking collar ring that threads onto the adapter
1 slot Picatinny Rail plate

So you pin the adapter to the sling stud, slip the plate on and sandwich them on with the locking collar. Then just tighten the bipod onto the Picatinny rail. It's way easier then I just made it sound.

It's light weight and simple yet very strong and sturdy even when the legs are extended the extra bit, I love it

Ok on the top rail. A lot of people love them, just be aware that there has been a lot of different size tolerances from marlin over the years so some people have to bang that thing on some people report its slips on no problem. I think it has something like 6 set screws so it should be good to go. It was made by a member on rimfire central.

She needs to learn how to shoot with the iron sights first, but when/if an optic is actually added, that rail kit seems like the way to go.

The semi-auto bolt slamming forward "drifts" the rifle forward until the cheap dovetails hang off the back of the rail. I think higher quality dovetails grab the rails better.

Now, is that because it's a semi-auto (a bit more recoil)? I haven't had an issue with dovetail mounts on my bolt-action Marlin.

Could be...I have a Marlin 25 bolt action with dovetail mounts which doesn't budge.

Most 795 owners have problem with these mounts. Mine did walked so I have to buy the dovetail / picatinny rail. You might have a different experience. Good luck.

The most common way is using a sling swivel stud. Some bipods have a built-in stud so you can still use a sling. Others attach to a rail, and some to a barrel.

First off I SWEAR I'm not a UTG fan boy! I don't know if I would trust this stuff on a center fire or any weapon I would use for self defense but hey this stuff has worked perfectly on this 22lr.

...and to you good sir, I stand corrected. I did jump the gun (no pun intended) on my reply. It is all about how it was read, and perhaps I, and gadsdenarmory by the sound of it, took it in differently than how you intended me to.

All this aside, it is great information for me as well. The Mrs. decided to go out and buy herself a plinker the other day...a Marlin 795. It is a good thing that I have an extra set of dovetail mounts lying around!
