.22 lr ammo availability improving?

I have 28,000 rounds of Remington 22LR. I'm trying to get rid of them because they're just sitting in my garage. $45 for 500 if anyone is interested. I'm in Fontana.

Just starting to shoot up the Remington Target ammo now that I've collected 15K+ rounds of current Federal Automatch 22LR stock.

Is Automatch dirty round compared to CCI minimags?

what's the point of having thousands of rounds if the ammo won't hold up for long term storage ?

Yeah, there would be no point if it was like Milk and it spoiled before you could use it. It doesn't. Don't store it in a hot garage or extreme humidity would be my guess, but that's just basic common sense. I have surplus ammo from the 50's (manufactured) that I trust for my use in C&R's and it wasn't always stored perfectly (by me) over the years. Always goes bang so far.

I'm not worried about a few .22's in cans in their controlled temp storage area. Don't let that be an excuse not to stock up when you can.

I shoot any .22LR shipped in cardboard boxes within a couple of years. They don't store well as the lead leaches through the copper forming a white goop causing sticky operation.

I have a few sealed Federal cans, those will keep for a long time and are saved.

Exactly. Ammo prices may fluctuate, but will always increase over time (just like any other product). I just bought a case of 7.62x54r that was made in '73. I wish I'd stocked up on a pallet of 22lr when it was still $10 a brick.

What's the difference between cardboard on your shelf and cardboard inside a .50 cal can with gaskets? My Federal cans still had cardboard 525 bulk packs in them.

It makes sense to shoot the oldest ammo first. But proper long term storage will keep your ammo good for decades.

Just bought two of these right now. .082 cents a round with shipping to Woodland Hills. The way I see it, I can pay .082 to a reputable business or .082 to a Calguns reseller...

Unfortunately with the shipping charge at Natchez it comes out to almost 11 cents a round

I don't really stock up too much either. I like to have 1000 rounds of .22 on hand at all times. If I use some I replace immediately. I do that so I can shoot my .22 without having to find rounds before I can go shoot. I don't want to sit on thousands upon thousands of rounds.

That's how we did it when we shot .22's each weekend... buy four federal bulk packs and complain about dropping $40+ dollars at Walmart each... then go shoot 1100 rounds and still have two packs for next weekend, repeat. Worst case scenario, we'd have to shoot something weird like Federal Lightnings or American Eagle. CCI was too fancy @ $4 per hundred.

It is different now. I want to have a few years worth, not just next Saturday's.
