I have had several experiences with Optics Planet taking your money without having the item in stock. I waited several days and then called them, whereupon they said it could take several weeks to get the product. I have used SWFA many times with great satisfaction. Cameraland in N.Y. is a good one too for higher end optics.

I've had good luck with both; though when I order my next optic (sad that I haven't bought any optics besides a bushnell red dot in probably 4 years) I will try and order from SWFA (and hopefully their sample list!).
Optics Planet has always shipped my stuff fairly quick; though my last order was delayed in this current mess for about 10 business days FWIW.
I have called/eventually purchased 1 optic from SWFA; they took the time to answer alot of my stupid rookie questions on the phone but I haven't had to use their customer service or order anything else for a few years.Stay classy, CGF and Calguns.Originally posted by bwiese[BTW, I have no problem seeing DEA Agents and drug cops hanging from ropes, but that's a separate political issue.]Comment

EuroOptic and SWFA generally get the bulk of my business when it comes to optics.
That said, I have ordered optics from a lot of other places without issues.

I have had an order or two with Optics Planet as well and without incident, but I have also called ahead of time to confirm things were in stock before ordering.ExtremeXComment

Optics planet
Optics Planet seems to be where a lot of manufacturers release new products for sale.
Like this New Red Dot from Docter (now Noblex-Docter, Germany) that is now the tiniest red dot sight available, (only) $500 though.....................

Thanks Fragthefreaks, that is an interesting optic. It does break the rule ... but for an admirable objective given the size of a pistol. The issue is whether it is actually workable (is it large enough) and how effective is it in actual use. From the pictures you post I think the answers to both questions might be positive. It's tempting.Comment

In the past I bought an Aimpoint, Eotech, and a couple Surefire weapon lights from them. The discount codes made the prices too good to pass up. I received my orders within a week and without any issues. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.Originally posted by G. Optics Planet is a politically tone-deaf company whose presence here can only be explained by inertia and apathy.
This is a good thread on the subject, and this was Optics Planet's laughable "response."
Their policies are contrary to Californians interests, and when someone complains they say it's their right to not ship legal products to us so we should stop complaining. I can take a lot, but I will not spend money with a company with the entitled attitude I saw in that thread.
With so many companies throwing themselves at us to do the right thing, why would you ever buy anything from them?Last edited by pratchett; 04-30-2020, 5:34 PM.Comment

Bought from them 2 times and both times were extremely bad experiences. besides, you can find much better prices if you know what you are looking for.
I rather buy from Dicks (which i'm not) than from Optic planetComment

Like many are saying, if you don't mind the wait, they can be ok. I have not had any problems with them. But I have only ordered from them about 10 times. When you are used to 2 day shipping from Amazon Prime, then a week or 10 days seems like an eternity.
Euro Optics is also a good resource for good glass.
Will look into Cameraland next time I'm looking to buy optics.Comment

Seconded. SWFA and CameraLand NY are my go-to sources for scopes. Samplelist.com is where SWFA sells used optics, if you're looking to save a little extra cash.
