The current state of affairs have me considering the unthinkable -- mail ordering a rifle scope. What experience have you had with Optics Planet?

Other than occasional delays in shipping, no bad experiences. Some annoying things but nothing bad. Prices are usually fair.

2-3 months wait so far for the 2 times I uses them (Aero precision extended mount, Holosun red dot). If you do not like waiting cancel the delayed order, found B&H Camera better with 2 week wait from order to arrival.

Endless complaints on here, mine included.

I won’t get into it, but will never buy from them again.

I would look to SWFA for a scope, and check out their samples list for great deals.

My take on scopes.
They are very expensive (mostly) for what you get. That said, if price is very good. I may pop for a mail order scope.

Personally, looking through a scope, an then buying that scope, is worth the extra few bucks you'd of saved.. most the time.. of course, this is just MO.

I bought my most expensive scope from Optics Planet after reading tons of reviews online.

Kappy has that model scope, so i had looked through one, once.

For me, it shipped right away and the price was right.

I still use Optics Planet sometimes despite all the complaints. I've never had an issue with them. If the product is in stock they'll ship it in a timely manner.

Seems like they have the cheapest prices on some things, but more expensive on others. Coupon code SPRING15 has been working for me lately ($15 off) over a hundred bucks I think.

My red dot shipped after 7 weeks of waiting.

my experience is they don't track very well what's actually in stock. Nothing they say can be trusted on that front. The last time I tried to order something (and it will be the last time ever) the item said 7-10 days. I ordered and the invoice said said 14-20 days, and at the end of the 20 days got another message saying sorry other 21 days. Cancelled and ordered elsewhere. It's not worth the $10 saving to have to maybe receive an item in a month or two.

Ive got a flip to side magnifier mount that I ordered on April 2nd, still hasnt shipped yet and I still havent been able to get thru to anyone on the phone or email.

Yuck! People I really respect are taking different positions on this. I went to Fowlers (yeah, I know, a bit on the pricey side), but they wanted $300 more. They're real close though. This COVID thing really sxxks. I'll see if I can get a better number from Turner's or Ammo Bros. I'd be willing to pay maybe $1700 for a cash and carry deal for a new out-of-the-box scope.
