Yep. I suspect its an HRA stock. Is the boxed eagle 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch? The 1/2 inch ones are the earlier manufacture if I recall correctly.

Are there any numbers inside the barrel channel? That would make it an IHC stock.

The eagle is 1/2 inch and there aren't any numbers inside the barrel channel.

Cleaning my HRA to get all the Cosmo and had this surprise.



Poured mineral spirits in the the op rod and let set for 15 mins. Dumped the mineral spirits back into the tray and out came two rings. Poured some more in and gave it a shake and the other piece came out.

Good thing I wasn't impatient and went out shooting before doing a detail strip. Now I have to buy a new spring. Might as well buy new ones for my other HRA and my SA that I will be getting tomorrow.

I thought I liked cleaning my M4 but it just got bumped down by the Garand. Matter of fact I think cleaning my firearm is just as much fun as shooting them.

Man that sucks. At least it's an inexpensive part. I just used really hot water, dried the parts, sprayed them down with a little WD-40, dried them again and then lubed it all up. The hot water really does the trick.

Mine arrived 20 minutes after I left the house. My son was good enough to wait and send me a few pictures.

HRAs I believe were the nicest and best made Garands. The fit and finish on them are a step above the others. I have an HRA but I still like the SA Garands and I want to get one of them as well. Been debating on picking up a SA service grade since they are available again.

you might be right but all of them have to meet gov standards. i prefer a WW2 SA myself. maybe spiting hairs on who made the best ones. ALL GOOD

Rifle looks real nice. Tore it down, cleaning now. Metal is a bit scratched up, but that's OK.

The ammo doesn't look bad. Got a couple NWM rounds.
One weird ammo can that was really oily/nasty.

Ammo is running through the tumbler presently...

Finally got home to check my Garand. It is very nice! All HRA parts. The rifle looks new. It is the HRA SG Special. Took less than a month from when I sent the order.

Still needs the barrel cleaned from test firing, and some cosmo removal. The stock is nice and snug but not restrictive.

I'll try to get pictures up soon. I remember my first Garand and a strange sense of pride when I bought it. But, when I saw my name on the certificate that comes with the rifle, that pride doubles.

CMP is a true American organization. The programs, education, and competition they provide for our youth, the preservation of our history, and the dedication of all the people who work, volunteer, and support the CMP are things that make the CMP worthy of our support.

As soon as I can... another Garand.

I always replace the op rod spring no matter how good they look

Just got my SA SG in today



Asked for a good shooter


Has new CMP stock. Hardly any Cosmo, 1941 with 1952 barrel, IHC trigger group.

Got home and unboxed my two Springfield Service Grades today; one has a Winchester Trigger group with an IHC safety.

I'm only sorry I didn't get into Garands 15 years earlier. These guns..the history, all the traceability - it's a lotta fun.

Very nice. That trigger group is gonna be money when the IHCs come out next year. You could easily trade for a correct SA group plus cash for it when the time comes.

Correction, looked again the hammer is an SA, so much for all correct TG.
