And it arrived yesterday! Service Grade Special, basically looks like a brand new rifle. I'll try to get some pics up tonight.

Now I just need the Greek ammo to show up.

I ordered enblocs, HXP and .30 Carbine on 3/15. May be getting close on the HXP now maybe another 10 days. The carbine ammo is apparently backordered to October

If you go to the CMP forum and carefully read the descriptions I bet you got exactly what you paid for.
First thing I do on any Garand is replace all springs no matter how new they look. From the sounds of it you got USGI wood?? Most people would be thrilled to get that over commerial. You can easily sell it and make enough to buy a commercial stock and have money left over

        GRADE DESCRIPTION:

Service Grade Rifles show less wear and better appearance than Field or Rack Grades. Good to very good condition. Rifle wear will be exhibited by worn and mixed colors of the parkerized finish. There may be some minor pitting on the metal parts. Wood will be either Walnut, Birch, Beech or other variety and will be basically sound but may have minor hairline cracks, dings, scratches and gouges. Wood may not match in color or type of wood. Wood may be of new production on Service Grade Garands. Bores will be generally good with only minor imperfections. The barrel crown may be nicked, but the muzzle will gauge "3 or less" and the throat erosion will gauge less than 5.
Is there a site you can recommend that has an M1 spring set package?

Stay away from buymilsurp.com. Only 2 of 8 springs for my carbine were usable.

Hey guys, sorry if this question has already been answered but
if I have my California handgun safety certificate, a copy of my passport
and a membership to the Garand collectors association the CMP would
sell me ammo and a Garand?

I know the handgun safety and the GCA membership are both good to go. I don't know if they need a drivers license to establish residence or not. I don't even remember if I sent a copy of mine in. Check the CMP website.

The items you mention would satisfy the CMP's proof of US citizenship, proof of age, membership in a CMP affiliated organization, and marksmanship or other firearms related activity requirements. Assuming then you are eligible to own a firearm at all (pass the background check CMP will initiate), and that you submit a proper order form and notarized Purchaser Certification and Agreement, you should be good to go.

And re: the notary - they just need to notarize one signature, and by CA law the most they can charge is $10/signature. Most UPS stores have notaries and no lines - takes just a few minutes. Don't be shocked when they attach a second paper - CA has very specific requirements and apparently that form doesn't comply. The CMP will figure it out.
