I was just reading what they sent in today's Sales Update e-mail.

California Rifle Purchases. Effective 1 Jan 2014, California residents who order rifles from the CMP must provide FFL information (shipping address) for the licensed firearms dealer in CA to whom the rifle will be shipped.

OR

If they want the rifle shipped to their residence, must provide CMP with a copy of the customer's individual C&R license AND a copy of their current CA Certificate of Eligibility.

All I know is I'm good. Just want to take possession of mine before the 1st so I don't have to send off registration paperwork to DOJ.

You were right, Garands are contagious especially after putting rounds down range. I put in an order for a service grade special. And my brother caught the fever too, don't know if he has ordered yet, but he is hooked.

The rifle is beautiful and SOAKED in Cosmo. Little wear and I am very impressed overall.
Muzzle is 1+
Throat is 2+
HRA-G3
So it has a HRA barrel with a date of 3-55
HRA rear sight
HRA bolt
USGI stock with small eagle and the circled P which I hear is HRA production.
The numbers on the barrel and bolt and the serial number do NOT match.
Does this mean they are not the original parts for THIS reciever?

Most likely you are looking at the drawing numbers for the part ie barrel, bolt trigger group. The bolt has this number 6528287 right?

I don't have it IFO me but the last four digits are the same. So it is possible that the parts are original to the gun? Although unlikely as these were often disassembled and reassembled. So there really is no way to tell?

Hard to say if they are original to the rifle. Easier to say they are correct for the rifle. There are a few sites that have listings of serial numbers and drawing numbers that are associated with them. I found this site helpful http://usriflecal30m1.com

It arrived yesterday! Springfield receiver with serial number 384XXXX putting the manufacture date in June 1945. I love the new stock and new barrel, though I might re-barrel it to the proper .30-06. Just wanted to get one in good condition before the year is up and the transfer fees and tax go into place. Can't wait to get out there and shoot it!

Sent in my order yesterday for a service grade Garand and a tin of HXP. Hoping against hope it arrives before the end of the year, but doubt it. FFL03 and COE sent in with the packet just to be safe. I prefer to avoid the new red tape that 2014 will bring.

I was informed of the backorder through email from the CMP. If you were able to get one in the E-store then you lucked out! I don't know of any public announcement of the backorder though.

I should clarify. I sent my order on 8/22 for an RM1308SPECIAL then requested to change it to RM1SPECIAL on 8/24. Here's the emails from CMP:
