I haven't ordered in years but have all grades and love all of them. Did CMP matches with a SG and took some old barreled actions and built some nice rifles. Got a beautiful 03-A3 at the last match they did here in Oceanside. All are fun in different ways and I got hooked on the variations (stamped, milled, Danish, lockbars, etc..).

I have a Garand, M1 Carbine and a 1903A3 from CMP and like them all.

Is there a way to check on a Garand order from them to see if it was received/processing/whatever, or is it just a wait until it arrives sort of deal?

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Even with California's headaches it's still no harder than ordering a gun from Bud's or Gun Broker.

Crap. The RM1Special grade is sold out now. It says "this does not include orders already received", but I don't know if mine is in that bunch or not. I sent off a couple weeks ago but have not heard anything back yet.

ME too!! I hope my order got in before they ran out. I wanted one to use for CMP matches so I don't have to shoot my more collectible one. I'll cross my fingers for you, too.

They will have more at some point, but know that it seems they are running 2-3 months on getting to mail orders, and it seems another 2-6 weeks on shipping.

JB, that's what I figured. I can wait I suppose since I've been meaning to do it for 2 years.

Wheelock, same plan. New criterion barrel for shooting lots, the other for shooting a little and the display collection.

I have owned and been around DCM/CMP rifles for almost 30 years. Frankly I have never seen a "dud" that someone reveived. The rifles in my experience, grade far higher than what they describe. Get whichever you can afford, and enjoy.

It used to be that any rifle would exceed your expectations but with the elimination of Rack Grades, they are sending out dogs. Plus, the Phillipine rifles are nothing like the gorgeous Greek returns. I've personally received a Field Grade with active rust that wouldn't have graded as a Rack 10 years ago. The newer rifles are not nearly as nice, although CMP has been rebuilding some really excellent as new Service Grades with all new park and new wood. Now you do stand the chance to get a dog. That's why so many recommend ordering 2-3, or the 8 you can get a year, you'll definitely get a nice rifle if you play the odds. Even the nastiest dog Field Grade wouldn't sit on a gunshow table at $850 for long.
