Got a heck of deal on it, only $99 shipped. I am hoping it will match either perfectly, or at the very least better than the Mega lower I have on it now. Mega has that flat matte powdery look, which is great when your upper does as well. CMMG has a semi-gloss dark black color, and with any luck the Spikes will as well. The picture above gives me hope. Looks nice and dark. There are worse problems to have, I know. But I figured it couldn't hurt to ask the experts. I'm 90% finished gathering all the parts I need for another upper, built on a Mega receiver to match my Mega lower. Gathered the parts one at a time over the past year, some of which are returned parts some of which I traded stuff I did not need for, and some of which where dealer specials I ran accross. All of which are great quality and should make for a great rifle.
I put that 14.5 CMMG upper I bought from you 2 weeks ago on a spare spikes lower I had. The cmmg upper is a lil more glossy. And the spikes is like a flat finish. I think it looks perfectly fine though. Plus the gun is gunna be used and get scratched, not a safe queen

If you need better pics let me know. I just took em quick and not in very good lighting

Ok, so not as dark/glossy as I had hoped. But it does look a less flat than my Mega lower. At least in the pictures. Guess I'll find out next Thursday when I pick it up. Thanks for the pic.

How about Duracoating the rifle? Or even cheaper, just rattlecan/Krylon it -- there are some awesome camo treatments on another pic thread here!

It doesn't really bother me. When I purchased the lower I knew it probably wouldn't match. It is just that the picture of the Spikes above looked so dark I thought it might match up and that would would have been a nice unexpected bonus.

I am pooring my attention into completing my Recon Rifle (almost done), and then my .308 rifle (1/2 way done). Next after that I want to pick-up a nice 1911.

Ah, ok, cool. But the painted rifles look so cool!

At first, sure...but over time it starts to chip off. I duracoated the barrel on a Remington 700 5R Milspec and if you breathed on it wrong it scratched. Was very frustrating. I like the look of it, but since its a little fragile I have a problem spending $2-4K on a rifle then taking a can of Krylon to it. Of course as soon as I say that, I'll probably turn around and do it. Never fails.
