would you build/buy a rifle just because you have hi caps for it?

Here is the scenario.

My buddy has a PPsh parts kit that he picked up back in 95 or so. He hasnt bothered to do anything with it. It included 1 drum mag, and some stick mags (dont recall the capacity, but Im sure they are over 10rds) and Ive been on him to put it together as a featureless rifle (not hard on this one) so he can use the mags as is.

Problem is, he doesn't want to go with an extended barrel and is thinking about hacking the thing up to build as a "pistol"

which then got him egging me on the pick up or build a MP5 type because Ive got a bunch of old MP5 hi caps sitting around.

What do you guys think?

DO IT! That's why I went out and got an AR was because I already had a Pelican rifle case but no rifle to go in it. Also had all the mags for it, grips, bipods, Grip Pods, slings, Surefire, ect..... Sound like a good enough reason to me.

Lots of people bought mags they didn't have a firearm for, to either hang onto for cash(depending on how they guessed the laws would work out, and they didn't work that way for us) or to buy the firearm later on when they could afford it/life permitted/got old enough/etc.

just pay close attention to the scrap metal piles at the junk yard.. im amazed at how many mags i find with bent feed lips that just need new bodies.. same goes for junk piles out on BLM land..

I wanted but wasn't quite ready to buy yet and my buddy gave me 2 AR mags and I ordered my upper a week later. I couldn't help it that dam mag stared at me all month. And that was that.

It's funny because after that he just said your welcome. He knew it would make me finally jump and do it.

And if it's your buddies high caps doesn't that make them transfer over to you which is illegal?? Not going to call the cops or anything lol just want to be sure I'm clear on that.
And I got lost from you talking about your friend having high caps then to you having the high caps. I'm just curious I always thought giving your legal high caps to some one was a transfer and then made u giving and him receiving them making them illegal mags now..

Yes.
I horded all kinds of mags "pre-ban" when I saw the writing on the wall years ago.
Example - never owned an AK clone. Have the mags though.
Bought WASR 10/63's so I could shoot them featureless w/standard cap mags.

In a freakin heartbeat. I bought an AR a number of years ago because I had a whole ton of Hi-Caps from back in the day that were given to me by a relative pre-ban. Absolutely buy and shoot the crap out of it.
