Remington 700 Recall

Just got off the phone with Remington. My query was about sending in the trigger group but not sending in the rifle. The phone operator had to put me on hold and ask a superior. She said no, we have to have the complete rifle for fitment and test fire. So I guess I'll just keep my Timney trigger in the rifle and stow the Remington MarkX Pro in a baggie with the recall notice.

Nothing to be confused about, when Remington states very clearly that if the trigger is ribbed, it is not part of the recall.

when the serial number entered say's it's part of the recall, it's not clear and there is legit confusion.

Why would you expect the ribbed trigger to over-ride the entered serial number? (or visa-verse)...

Because the recall is for the smooth trigger?

Guns in the serial numbered range AND with a smooth trigger. Remington should have put that in the program so you enter both pieces of information.

Because the guns with ribbed triggers are specifically NOT part of the recall, regardless of serial number.

It's also probably the most popular aftermarket 700 trigger ever produced.
Field use over long periods of time and high round counts have proven them to be more reliable than most other aftermarket triggers.

In your opinion, what is the best two-stage aftermarket trigger for a SA R700? I have a 700 SPS in .223 that I am going to get some work into...one of these days. My preference is two-stage for no other reason than it's what I have grown used to.

I have not used or been around enough 700's with two stage triggers on them to form an opinion.

I have a Timney in my newest Rem 700 but it has a wide trigger shoe, it doesn't work so great in my AI stock. I think I would get another Jewell if I did it again. It has a narrower shoe and my trigger finger position is better in most stocks. Both are great triggers. I just like the Jewell more.

I'm not planning on sending in both of my rifles. :/ It looks like I may very well be ordering a couple of Timney 510s!
ETA: I just placed an order for two 510s from SWFA. $241 shipped USPS Priority. I was planning on using that money for something else, but a better/safer trigger isn't something I can complain about either.
