Does Freedom Group have any affiliation with GM? Seems recalls abound these days.

So does anyone know how they'll fix the problem once they get the rifle?

Just bought a used one in January, swapped stocks and put glass on it. Took it to the range to sight in scope, was shooting fine for about 15 rounds, took it off safe with my right thumb and was sliding my finger into the trigger guard and bam, the damn thing went off. Shot all sorts of stuff in the military and have been around guns my entire life but that trigger on it scares the **** out of me. I love the rifle but definitely have reservations about that trigger from here on out, was thinking about not even touching it again until I get a better trigger. Thanks for the heads up on the recall op.

Good call on this. I'm finally starting to see coverage. Thanks for sharing this info!

Wife tried to pick up her new 700 at Turners today. It's her first rifle and she was so excited she even thought about going back to work late so she could get on her lunch break because her DROS time ended at 1330. She even already had her scope in hand and an appointment with an armorer to get it mounted tonight so we could hit the range first thing tomorrow morning. So she shows up at 1630 and they won't give it to her because of this. Unbelievable let down.

Looks like I'll be upgrading soon. I really don't feel like shipping my rifle back and being without it for however long it takes them to do the work.

Thank you for the info, I never would have known about this.. my 700 is in the recall range. This is a good safety reminder to never chamber a round until your muzzle is pointing in a safe direction.

Just FYI, it's two pins to replace with aftermarket trigger:

Also, for anyone who is sending theirs in, go to LGS you purchased it from and they should ship it to Remington for free. A different LGS should be able to ship it much cheaper than doing it yourself through UPS.

They will inspect and clean the trigger IF any excessive sealant is found in the trigger.
It does not look like any parts will be swapped out.

Is there way to determine on the user end?... I haven't shot a lot through it, but have about 100 rounds with no issue - not sure if that's reason for no concern.

I'm sure there is, but Remington is not going to tell you how to check it...

It would likely involve removing the barreled action from the stock, removing the trigger return springs (both of them) and feeling how the trigger moves.
If excessive sealent is detected, it would need to be cleaned out before the trigger is re-adjusted and the gun put back together.

Dammit. I don't want to send my rifles for this. Might have to go timney.

****. I bought my 700 less than 2 years ago. Can't remember if it has the xmark trigger. Whack sauce all around.

Does anyone know why the rifle needs to be sent back instead of just the trigger group?
