I dunno. I really like the wood on my Browning version and these pics don't even show the gloss fully.

I bought a Remlin / Marlin 1894c about 4 years ago. The fit and finish are better than some would have you believe. My only complaint is that it was difficult to load at first. After some use and cutting about 8" off of the magazine spring it's fine now. I checked out Henry ( too heavy ) and Miroku ( very nice but $400.00 more ) My Marlin is one of my favorite guns.Comment

Gotta go with this. Our Rossi 92 in .357M is a pleasure to shoot and was actually affordable. One can fit nine .38 Spl cartridges or eight .357M cartridges in the 16" tube's magazine. It's handy, it works well, it's a Model 92, and as I mentioned, it's affordable. The way that Ruger traditionally has been with revolvers compared to Smith & Wesson or Colt ("affordable, reliable, workin' man's gun"), that's how I view Rossi in the levergun space.
And speaking of Ruger, I too am looking forward to seeing what Ruger does with the Marlin levers. I just hope they won't be priced to the moon."San Francisco Liberal With A Gun"

That's how I view the Rossi's too. Inexpensive, but good. You may have to tweak it a bit using Steve's tips. But, you end up with a durable and reliable shooter that's tough, light, and handy.Gotta go with this. Our Rossi 92 in .357M is a pleasure to shoot and was actually affordable. As mentioned previously, other levers are either too heavy or too expensive IMHO, even though I own some of them.
The one lever gun I don't mind carrying into the backcountry and beating the snot out of it is the Rossi."Show me a young conservative and I'll show you a man without a heart. Show me an old liberal and I'll show you a man without a brain." - Sir Winston Churchill

Yep, Rossi is made by BrazTech, a.k.a. Taurus. Taurus's customer service does leave a bit to be desired. Fortunately, the Rossi 92's don't tend to break.
That's the other reason why I'm looking forward to seeing Ruger's Marlin rifles. Ruger's customer service is very good, indeed."San Francisco Liberal With A Gun"

And if you don't like to do a little gun smithing then I'd stay away from a Rossi. Also, if you don't reload your might want to stay away from the 44mag models..
The customer service is the worst in the industry. I also advise not to send a gun back to them..It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

The revised line of Henry lever-action guns now (called "Side Gates") have
a side-loading port, which makes Henrys far more appealing to many.
[Prior Henrys were great, but you hadda load a tube mag and feed it
back in near muzzle.]
Henry fit & finish has always been great - when I look at my Henry 44mag BigBoy, it's just far smoother etc. than my Marlin 45/75 stainless lever gun.
Some of this has to do with many Henrys being commemorative guns (incl
my FNRA Henry.)
My Marlin has nothing wrong with itL shoots accurately, feeds & ejects well,
but smoothness of the Henry action, the trigger break quality etc put it in
a Rolex vs Seiko kinda competition...
They now have a nice stainless 'all weather' variant as well.

wow
I believe "stainless" look would be more accurate. "The barrel, the receiver, the lever, and the magazine are all hard chrome plated" the reciever probably has a sprayed on durable finish..that should be a good seller for them.Last edited by golfish; 05-01-2022, 6:18 PM.It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

You can Henry all you like but they will never be a Marlin, and now that Ruger has begun making Marlin, your post is even funnier.
If you're going to compare makes of lever actions to any other mechanical devices, it'd go something like this:
Marlin: 1960s Ford GT40
Henry: 2000s Toyota CamryLast edited by 200Apples; 05-01-2022, 8:06 PM..
