I own & ccw a PPQ, it's my EDC. I love the gun. I have a VP9 on order, but I don't know if it will replace my PPQ. We'll have to see once I shoot it. I think the VP9 will be battling my Sphinx SDP for the 3rd & final spot on my CCW.

PPQ by far. Yo should see how many jaws drop when I talk bad about the infamous VP9. Too many people are holding it up as Gods Pistol, it's meh.

I'm sure HK did a great job & it's a great gun, but I think it might be a tad over hyped here on CGN. Don't get me wrong, I've already preordered/paid for one from Audiophil, but I'm not expecting it to replace my PPQ.

I think the differences between the 2 are really just splitting hairs & you can't go wrong with either.

When everyone thinks a given asset will continue to increase in price, that's when it usually doesn't. Given CAs silly firearms laws, this could be the exception, but that is far from guaranteed which seems to be the sentiment of the other posters. Therefore, use a diversified portfolio for investing, and buy the gun you'd prefer to shoot.

CA market is it's own extremely stupid animal. You figure if there are 40 to 75k VP9's made this year then only a small amount are making it in vs our population.

Also debating between these two. Haven't got to shoot the VP9 but did get to dry fire it.

Trigger:
-PPQ trigger breaks crisper though it does have a longer uptake. Very short reset and the pull is also lighter. Paddle release is easier to actuate or you can get the typical push button style.

-VP9 has shorter uptake but the break is slightly mushy. Longer reset and a heavier pull. I feel it's better suited for carry as a result.

Also, having not shot the vp9 I can't say what difference the triggers make in actual use.

Sights:
Both suck. PPQ are plastic which I don't care for but IIRC the rear notch was wider for faster aiming. VP9 are at least metal but nothing to write home about. Both would need aftermarket sights IMO.

Ergos:
VP9 offers more customization but hands vary widely so its a matter of personal preference. Since I haven't shot the vp9 so can comment on recoil or other aspects. The PPQ does have a high bore axis which is noticeable using certain ammo and firing at a fast rate in comparison to say the glock 19. Not enough of an issue to dissuade one from buying it though.


I've noticed there's maybe a $20 price difference around here so I'd opt for the VP9 merely because it should be easier to resell.

I have both and I think I favor the PPQ. The VP9 sights and slide don't really agree with me. PM me if you are in NorCal and want to try them out.

Both need aftermarket sights but the HK is blocky imo, I prefer the PPQ but both get ripped off ASAP for me.


PPQ is a better shooter but with a little more felt recoil

Isn't the ppq already sort of compact like a glock 19? And the ppq m2 is full sized at five inches?

yes PPQ is already compact, similar in size as the Glock 19. No the PPQ M2 is the same as the M1, except the M2 has the traditional push button mag release, while the M1 has the trigger guard mag release like the HK's.

yes there is a 5" version of the PPQ as well.

I really wanted a PPQ and if my LGS could do a SSE for it, I would have one on order. There is another local place that does the PPQ but I haven't been there yet. Rather I am on a waiting list at 2 separate places for a VP9. I may get the PPQ, but I have decided that for me, the VP9 is my first choice. This all bases on reading reviews, watching videos, and deciding what is right for me. Your answer may be vastly different. And I may change my mind after shooting a VP9.

People mean stock sights...but agreed....10-8 is great. Dawson also makes Vp9 sights.

I fondled both today and dry fired both. The vp9 has a longer grip but I liked the ppq trigger. It may be my last sse and/or last handgun purchase. I have too many guns as it is.

Have a PPQ, getting a VP9. If you can afford it, get both. If not, you can probably get the PPQ somewhat cheaper.
