    DOJ DELAY

I was suppost to pick up tomorrow. Contacted my ffl for an appointment and was told the doj put a delay on it. I did a little research here on cg, and other people with this issue have contacted the doj and told the reason or what they can or need to do to remove the hold.

I called them and got a recording stating they can not disscuss your reason over the phone. Is this a new thing? How do i find out? Do i have to just wait?
I do have a past record where every thing was solved. I have also recieved a letter a few years back stating i was ok to own firearms and have purchased since then.

    Thanx for any info!

this happened to me recently. They have to either accept or decline your transfer with in a certain time frame ( i forgot the time-frame) or they MUST accept the transfer. I went through the same exact thing you are going through. I tried to call them BLAH BLAH BLAH... Then they set it aside until they cannot legally make you wait any longer. Then they call the FLL and tell them to call you to pick up the fire arm. its a bunch of bull!

Broo tool thanx for your response. Thats horrible that they held it for almost 30 days. I guess the 10 day wait period has turned into a mystery day wait! That sucks, ive been waiting almost 2 years for this purchase! Errrr

From what I was told by a FFL, they have 30 days to decline of accept. It is my understanding that if they fail to address it within 30 days the FFL is allowed to release the firearm to the purchaser.

It winds up being about 33 days.
If DOJ has no determination at the 30 day mark, it now automatically goes back in for a new check. That check can only run 3 days. At the end of the 3 days the FFL will be notified with the outcome.
            Deny after delay
            approval after delay
            undetermined
Now it falls on the FFL. If it's undetermined the FFL can choose to release the firearm or deny the release. Talk to your FFL and see what they do with undetermined. Some release and some refuse to.

can you start DROS on a new firearm after 30 days of the previous one even if it's delayed...say on the 32nd or 33rd day?

Just wait it out.. if you was denied the DOJ would have denied you from the beginning and not put a delay on you.. you'll have your weapon in the end of your extended wait.
