For many of us who have only owned full sized pistols because we never dreamed of CCW the subcompact is a completely different animal. After 100 rounds through my Shield 9 I'm still shooting like utter crap, everything I shoot is off to the left. I'm going to put an Apex kit in it to see if it'll compensate for my lack of skill

This^^^ I shot my shield like crap when I first got it. I had to really focus on trigger control and grip to get decent hits on target. I put the apex kit in it and it made it a whole new gun. Trigger pull went from almost nine pounds to a consistent 5 lbs pull as measured wit the Lyman gauge.

I moved my site a hair left, apex 5lb trigger and pushed my hand up solid against the gun when shooting. World of difference! I love my shield as a ccw and have even shot for fun at the range in "friendly" competition.

You guys must have some nice guns. Sure, I have a Kimber with a 3.5 lb trigger so I know what a great trigger is like. But the Shield doesn't have that bad of a trigger. Just a couple dry fires before I put it back in jail (picking up tomorrow) I did feel the "grit" some people talk about, but the pull was pretty light and the break was clean.

Didn't feel much of the grit, but did notice the reset to be a bit spongy. Apex kit cleaned that right up, still pulling shots slightly left, but it hits the same spot consistently at 7 yds. At 15, things tend to open up quite a bit for me, but I am sure I just need practice.

Could be your front sight. My shots are all left as well.

I recommend the Apex trigger for the shield , it really makes a difference.

For those who installed Apex kit in the Shield, which Apex kit did you install?

Love my Shield-40, though my wifes Shield-9 is nice to and she loves shooting it. Is pretty good with it and likes it as much as her G-19.

Very Happy with it and I shoot it pretty darn well from the gitgo, not much learning curve other then finger placement on the trigger. The extended mag is my preference with my bigger hands. May sell my G-27 as the Shield-40 is so much nicer to shoot and hold for me. Great purchase, glad I picked it up.

I own and CCW carried a Ruger LC9 for 2 years and fired over 1,000+ rounds for practice and never enjoyed a single range session with the worlds longest trigger pull. I later bought a SSE version of the Shield in 9mm and have carried that now for the last 3-4 months and love it.

Range sessions are more enjoyable and group size shrank dramatically because of the better trigger . Have not had a single failure with the Shield.

MY LC9 magazine would release when carried depending how and where I placed my IWB. No such problem with the Shield.

I have no problem with the standard or the +1 magazine.

I just picked up my Shield last week and it has exceeded all my expectations. The stock trigger didn't have any grit in the takeup like my full size and compact. However the pull is quite heavy with a 7.5 lb. pull, which causes all my shots to impact 1-2 inches left at 7 yards. I thought of putting an Apex sear in it, but then I reminded myself that this isn't going to be a range gun. The stock trigger is suitable enough for a carry gun.

I didn't buy my shield because I thought it was the "end all ccw pistol" or the "latest and greatest." I bought it because I already had m&p that I loved, the grip angle fits me, and its priced under $500 OTD. You back that up with an American made products with oneof the industries best customer service and you got yyourself a good deal that you can bet your life on

Ditto for me. I also happen to shoot better with it than my full size MP40.

I love the shield.

A Shield is at the top of my list. Need to save a few more pennies. I little gritty trigger on a new gun doesn't bother me .. has always smoothed out after a couple hundred rounds.
