I think people bought them solely for the purpose of flipping, thinking that they would be unobtanium for another year or so. Up until the CA version came out, that was true to a point, but now I think it is just a desperate bid to recoup some of the money they have into them.

Not everybody lives near a store that has them. It's a big state. People always try to get back as much as they paid as possible. Factor in taxes and fees and it's probably about $120-$150 more new than you think it is. So they might be over the sticker price but not the out the door price.
OP, I was not that impressed with the Shield. Another Glock Killer that failed to measure up to it's own hype. It is a nice gun...it just has a couple things that personally do not appeal to me. However, if I needed a Pocket Carry gun it would likely be my first choice.
The Shield is really a pocket pistol disguised as a hip gun. Those pocket pistol features that are ideal for pocket carry are not ideal for hip carry. If they were not there I would probably love it. Yes, it is thin...which everybody gets hung up on and would be great if not for those darn pocket carry features. It has a safety that I'm concerned might accidentally get engaged during carry. It's not gonna happen often, if ever, but once at the wrong time and I'm pulling a dead trigger while bullets are coming at me. So the very presence of the safety makes me nervous. It also has a very heavy trigger compared to a Glock. Again, this is a pocket carry safety feature. If pocket carrying it is great, if hip carrying it is a disadvantage.
The best option for me for every day concealed carry currently on the market is the Glock 26. Yes, it is thicker...not by too much but noticeably so. But it has a MUCH better trigger and no safety to accidentally flip on during carry. When Glock finally comes out with a thinned down 9mm for concealed carry I'll be stoked. Until then my Glock 26 works for me. The best part is, I already have years of muscle memory on the Glock action. So there is no learning curve. I pick it up, and shoot it perfectly...well as good as my other Glocks anyway.Last edited by tacticalcity; 05-23-2014, 2:06 PM.Comment

This ^^ Sadly, most waited too long, trying to hold out for the highest dollar and now that the stores have their inventory, the sellers are panicking.Comment

I have both the PPS in 40 and the shield in 9 and I carry both. I really like both for carry guns but I think the PPS is a "nicer" gun. Because I like these two pistols for carry guns, I have not carried my G23 at all.I'm still looking at the Walther PPS...although not as urgently as I was before, I'd prob buy that before the Shield... but currently I can conceal my PPQ just fine... so I'm not too serious about my search... I MAY try a Sig P938 for a true pocket carry at some point for the "dressy" days that I can't IWB...Comment

Been lurking for a long time, but finally decided to post... not sure if an introduction is required...
Seems like "off roster" is a legitimate reason to sell a gun for several hundred dollars over what is retail in other states. For example, in California I can buy a Glock 19 Gen 3 for $550 at my LGS, but an off roster Gen 4 through a PPT is most likely going to run me $795. Same seems to be true for the Shield --especially the off roster California versions.
Good job (ironically of course) to the DOJ for creating the gun-roster, spiking gun sales to astronomical proportions over the last couple of years, and to creating a crisis (and therefore an "opportunity") to the whole supply and demand market of guns in California.

CCW denials that aren't being reported?...
If the marketplace is saturated with them, you should be able to get a good price. It's a gun worth having in your stable - but not the say all end all gun (none are)."Kamala is a radical leftist lunatic" ~ Donald J. TrumpComment

...exactly...and now that you've had a taste, you're bored and desire a different flavor LOL
how people can play this "catch and release" game with firearms; to commit $500+ and the time and hassle to obtain, then put it up for sale and do it all over again...
...but if firearms is your hobby, well, that's how you gotta roll (i guess)...Comment
