or do we panic and start stockpiling?
What does panicking have to do with stockpiling?

If you'd been buying it all along there'd be no need for panic.

I bought a bunch today at the Rancho Cordova store. They're out of a lot of stuff, especially 9 mm Bulk Packs. I asked the tan-vested clerk if they were going to stop carrying ammo, and he said "no", but now I'm wondering...

Maybe you mean City of LA? I buy .40 and .45 at my Duarte Walmart all the time. I've bought 7.62X39 there too. The Walmart in Baldwin Park, however, doesn't carry any ammunition.

Talked to the Walmart sports section guy at the Truxel Natomas store in Sac. He said 17 stores in the area chose not to sell ammo. The Elk Grove store still sells ammo, but the Natomas store won't.

I was at the Gilroy sprawl mart on saturday, and they still sell ammo. Lots of .45 there, but they haven't had the 40 round winchester value packs of .223 for awhile. They do have .223 in remington but it's not priced as well as the winchester was.

Interesting change in their policy though... They now REQUIRE I.D. FOR ALL AMMO PURCHASES. This ticked me off because I had to walk back out to my truck to get my driver's license. The guy behind the counter said it was a new policy. I balked and asked to speak to the manager. The manager didn't know WHY the new policy was enacted either, so she got on the phone with somebody at corporate, and when she got off the phone she STILL could not give a reason for the change.

Regarding ID, it depends on what clerk I get at my walmart. Some ask for ID, some don't, but I know that technically they are all supposed to ask for it cause the cash register actually gives them that prompt.

More information for their massive data center. When the blue helmets come to take our guns, it will probably be Wal*Mart Jack-Boots rather than UN Jack-Boots.

Interesting. I wasn't paying attention Saturday, but I definitely will pay close attention the next time I'm asked for I.D... If the guy gives it a cursory look just to confirm that I'm over 18, or 21, well I don't have a problem with that. But if he enters any data into the register, such as my Driver's License number or anything, I will march straight over to the Manager's office again to find out what's going on...

If Wal-Mart actually is linking their security cameras to purchases, it would be trivial (at least compared to facial recognition) to get a photo of the ID over the clerks shoulder and automatically derive the ID data from the photo. That article gave me the willies: it is amazing what you can data mine out of a database of the magnitude we're talking about.....

Well just confirmed the Walmart in Brea and Fullerton/ LaMirada will still be selling ammo. The managers said it had to do with how much demand the certain store in each location had for ammo. And acccording to them, these stores sell alot and will NOT remove ammo from their store.

Would you guys be interested in a ammo group buy? I asked my manager at Big 5 if I could get a discounted rate on an obscene amount of ammo, and he said he could set it up with merchandise control Now I just need to know what calibers and what volume. 10,000 rds of WWB 9mm, anyone?

I'd be interested in .40 S&W and 45 ACP. 1000 rounds each if the price is right, maybe 2000 rounds for the 40.
