    Walmart pulls plug on ammo

I went to Walmart in Pleasanton to buy some .38 Special ammunition today. There was no ammo behind the counter in sporting goods department. So I button hooked one of the sales people and asked what was up. He said they had received a call from corporate H.Q. and were told to pull all ammo off the shelves an hour before I got there. I asked why and he said they didn't tell them. When I got home I tried to call the store manager and was only able to get the assistant manager. He said all the stores in the area were doing the same thing, with the exception of Milpitas, Mountain View, and Tracy. But he said to call to check for sure before making a trip. Boy am I hot! There goes my local source of reasonably priced .38 Bupkus

I bought 700 rounds of ammo at my local Wal-Mart just yesterday, in Brea. Friendly lady working the counter, very healthy stock of ammo, too. Another local Wal-Mart (Orange) just built a new sporting goods "island" with much improved stock of ammo. They used to be out of .45ACP all the time, now they always have tons of ammo.

I know that LA County Wal-Marts don't sell ammo.

      I just bought 300 .40, 300 .45, and 100 .223 at the WalMart in Orange about 2 hours ago.

Is that the one right off the 10 or off Azusa a little further down? I never saw ammo at the one off the 10 and haven't checked the one near Bert's.

They do sell ammo at the one in the city of Industry near La Puente Mall. Never checked the one in Pico either.

They are building a super center about 2 blocks from my house but I have no idea if they will ammo or not. Would be great if they did.

That is correct. Sure hope they'll have ammo and other gun related items.

Is this the whole bay area or just certain stores?

Every once in a while there is a frantic thread claiming Wal-Mart isn't selling ammunition anymore when in fact it is just their local Wal-Mart or a couple in their area. Most Wal-Marts sell ammo...the two closest to me certainly do.

Hopefully this is just an anomaly and not a state wide deal.

OH man, that would totally suck to lose that steady supply of ammo. I'd have to do a group buy with my friends to get good discounts.

Oh man I know. No more white box Wins would mean fewer range days for me. The thought gives me chills.
