Walmart pulls plug on ammo

As of yesterday, the store in Glendora was still selling ammo, but according to the guy there who orders the ammo, that store and all stores in CA will taking their ammo and shooting/hunting supplies off the shelves in the near future. I've just sent them a message saying I won't be shopping there any more. I have law enforcement connections for good prices on high quality reloads so I'm not that concerned about it. Wally world doesn't carry anything I can't get somewhere else, and I don't mind paying a little more or buying a little less if it means supporting businesses that actually care about their employees and don't refer to their customers as lacking relevancy. Just got back from the San Jose Walmart. The shelves where they kept the ammunition, right under the "We support Safe Hunting" sign are empty.

Just made another $130 purchase in assorted ammo at my local WalMart in Red Bluff. Clerks are aware of the other stores removing ammo from their shelves. Lots of stock up here, come and get it before I do!

I just went to Wally World in Tracy with full intentions of buying all the .45WWB they had in stock, looks like one of you beat me to it as they were all out!

They were selling other ammo for now anyway. I asked one of the clerks about the situaton and he gave me some interesting info. He said last week they started a new policy sent from corporate that they were to ask for proof of age on ALL ammo sales to ANYONE. The memo also instructed them in the proper way to check for valid ID. He also mentioned they currently have more ammo on order.

That's the facts. Now the speculation, I wonder if they had some issues with minors particularly in urban areas?

Wal-Mart ammo prices

I just paid (100 rounds):

$20.98 for WWB .45 ACP
$11.98 for WWB 9mm
$16.98 for WWB .40 S&W

It seems to me that these prices have been bumped up about $2.00 from
approx. a year ago. Does that sound right?

I never said it made sense, like so many "feel good" gun laws it doesn't seem to have to. I was just wondering if there was a connection, I suppose it could just be coincidence.

Either way, at the moment, whatever thier criteria is, they have pulled ammo in some places and not in others. How do they decide where to do that? I have a hard time believing that it's a local supply and demand issue.

It appears to be a district manager's decision rather than a corporate one. Solano County is in a different Walmart district than Alameda, Contra Costa, Sanata Clara Counties

I bought 5 boxes of WWB 45 Auto yesterday in milpitas. just under 20 before tax for a box of 100. I've never bought ammo at walmart before, so when i got home i was very surprised to see that it was JHP, not FMJ. Did the clerk make a mistake, or are the WWBs that everyone is talking about JHP.
