The Shield will not fall off the roster in April or July or anytime soon. S&W will renew it.

Stippling is a physical change made to the grip, usually by slightly melting the plastic with a soldering iron or wood burning tool. There is a pretty big divide between amateur stippling and pro stippling.

The company expects that any current production revolvers that fall off will be re-tested and returned to the roster, since microstamping does not apply to revolvers.
Well the standard and hugely popular 642 model 163810 plain jane model fell of the lsit last week and was not renewed.

That being said, the 642 with S&W logo grips is still on the list and under the same SKU of 163810, so some FFL's will transfer a plain Jane model, and I would imagine some will not since it does not have the S&W Logo grips. Same as with the 442.

Im in the process of buying another 642, had one dealer say yes, one say no.

But there is nothing on the gun but 642-2, and that is on the list. My dealer said he would receive it for me, regardless of the SKU on the box, hand me the box to take home, and DROS it as the 642-2.

As far as the Shield goes, IMOP, yes it's a cool gun, just a single stack M&P Compact, I found it too big and heavy for me as a compact, the Kahrs, PM, P and CW series and the Keltecs PF9's and others are smaller, lighter and cheaper. (PM and P series Kahrs are pricy)

Even if it was to fall off the list, there's always SSE.

Also every time some one post a price, there's always tons of poeople saying man you got screwed, it's only $$$$ dollars here, I can get it for a hundred less.

Price is always relative to the market your in, almost all the folks with the $100 cheaper prices are in LA area and can shop at Turners or other volume dealers, those of us in the Central Valley or Nor Cal, do not have that luxury.

My dealer of choice Alquist in Turlock price on the M&P9 CA version is $413.09 +tax and DROS. but here in Fresno, I'd probably pay mid $500's

You need friends who won't tell you lies.

                                1) The Shield was never on the CA roster and can be had via SSE, for $360 + SSE.
                                2) There is a version specifically for CA, with a rather prominent loaded chamber indicator and magazine disconnect, and it will NOT fall off the roster.

FS: Atlas Bipod, Custom G23 RMR slide, ETS mags, Jagerwerks, Recover G26/27, CZ Scorpion bits, etc.
