There's no Turners up north so maybe prices are higher. My brother in law say that Shield in his area is $530 cheapest. Ask me to buy one at turners and even with ppt fee it still cheaper than he can buy new one up there for.

Funny how gun prices work. Shield up there expensive but you can get cheap CZ guns. Down here CZ guns are $680-730 just for basic CZ75. Up there you get SP01 for that price. Craziness.

Yes, mine was $380, ordered from one of those places by my FFL, and he just tacked on $100 for SSE, taxes and DROS. He said he was not making any real money off of it, since he was basically just ordering it and doing an SSE/Transfer on my behalf (and a few other folks).

I would suggest that for CCW (if you expect to get a permit anytime soon) the Shield is better, but as an all aroun 9mm, it's hard to beat the Glock 19.

If I were to just get a gun without any CCW considerations, the Glock 19 is my choice.

I just found three new Shields for sale in Nor Cal, $649, $679 and $729. $590 sounds like a reasonable price. I'm more interested in the difference between it and a Glock 17? Not sure if I need or want one at this time.

He also mentioned that he had just received his last shipment of S&W Shields 9MM (he received 6). He told me that this model will fall off the roster at the end of April and wanted to know if I wanted one or two (myself and my wife). He said that once they are put out in the sales gun case, they will be gone likely within a day or two.

You consider him a friend but he considers you a fish.

If you can conceal a 17, a Shield is of little use to you.
If you don't carry concealed a Shield offers nothing over your 17.

At $590 before tax and DROS I see ZERO reason to buy it from your friend.

I think the Shield is more comparable to the Glock 26 than the 19. Size wise the 26 and the Shield are about the same length and height. The Shield is thinner because of the single stack.

Although I think we all agree the price being asked by the "friend" is a no go.. those that keep referencing non CA versions and their prices fail to often consider the added cost of: possible shipping, most often an SSE fee, can you even find someone who can SSE it, an FFL transfer fee.

Suddenly, the non CA version - unless you have someone that can SSE near you who does not charge an arm and a leg to do an SSE nor a hefty transfer fee (I have seen ranges of $50-100 locally for just that) - doesn't look so swell.

+$50 max. Mine was $480 + DROS, which is pretty much the Turner's price for CA model
