I shoot my 1961 6" Python at least once a month.

Buy 2, shoot one, don't shoot the other.

I have one that's a safe queen and has never been fired, and one that gets shot when the rest of the revolvers go to the range. On the days that I shoot 1911s or whatever, I keep it at home, and my father shoots it a few times a year for fun.

I don't get the "I don't shoot it anymore mentality". Hey it's not like it could be new again. Pull it out, dust it off and enjoy it once and a while.
Now NIB, that's a different story.

if i came to own a Python that had been a safe queen with zero to low mileage, i'd keep it that way. if i acquired one with honest wear that had been someone's shooter, i would take it to the range on occasion.

I shoot the hell out of mine, a stainless 4 inch that was given to me by my grandfather. If I were to get another that was in close to or near mint condition I would shoot the hell out of that one too.

I just recently bought a set of period never installed original factory walnut GEN 3 checkered/gold rampant Colt medallions grips (cost almost as much as the original Python price) which replaced the original awful black rubber wraparounds-shot it last weekend-my lord how those new walnut grips felt! All in all, my 6" stainless steel Snake rears it's hooded head about twice a year. To me, a very precious handgun.

I shoot mine, Who knows of they will keep going up but if Colt does a new release those prices will fall.

                    Oh no not me.
I'm going to deprive myself the pleasure of shooting a Python so an ungrateful relative can take it to the gun show and sell it for ten cents on the dollar to a honest dealer.

                      Now that's funny.

My wife knows who to give my collection to when I die. Some relatives will be pissed but that's ok, they didn't show interest when I was alive.
That was weird, speaking of myself as dead.

I shoot my dad's 4" blued Python anytime that I can. He bought it off a CHP officer in 1972 for $75.00. We have shot many, many rounds through it. It still functions flawlessly.

Buy a ruger or s&w and $2000 of some stock index fund then go and shoot.

What's the point of a no shooter, might as well get something else as art.

Do you buy an expensive bottle of scotch to look at and then drink Johnny walker black?
