It has two pistol sleeves that have their own slot but are removable. I often slip two pistols in each sleeve, with one being wrapped in a rag. Works fine.
Note that my one complaint with this bag, and it's kinda a big one, is that it isn't possible to lock the bag. I use the cable locks through the mag well.Comment

I'm glad you pointed that out (lockable zippers). I may have to look at some other ones as well, thanks! It has two pistol sleeves that have their own slot but are removable. I often slip two pistols in each sleeve, with one being wrapped in a rag. Works fine.

It's important to know that just trunking a cable lock through the mag well does not satisfy CA transportation laws.It has two pistol sleeves that have their own slot but are removable. I often slip two pistols in each sleeve, with one being wrapped in a rag. Works fine.

The pistol must be in either a locked case or in a locked trunk.
The cable lock only satisfies storage laws. Its not paranoid.....its prepared.

Really, I wasn't aware of that. I figured that it was good to go; locked, obviously unloaded, and in a purpose built firearm bag. If I'm stopping along the way for lunch or something I'll run the cable lock through a bike cable and padlock it to the seat frame.
That doesn't make since...but that's not the first time I've said that about a firearm law.Comment

This is the best deal I've seen for a range bag. $24.99 + shipping. It has great reviews too.

I couldn't resist, and went with the Midway Competition bag. I looked into the Shooters Connection and CED bags (both around $90 which I didn't mind spending), but this was just too hard to pass up:
I also purchased these lockable pouches since the ones it came with are not; the bag itself is not lockable either, so this will help.

This is what I use. Holds everything for a small trip with hand guns. When bringing more I usually bring a plastic ammo can for ammo and cases for the long guns.
Picked it up on sale and has held up for over a year. so far no problems but no good way to lock the large compartment.Comment

I had the gun mate before I bought the la police gear BOB. For me it was too small but still a nice piece of kit.Comment

I've checked with two FFLs that I know (commercial operators, not living room types) and they both said that DOJ guidelines say that a cable lock through the mag well is good to go. That's how most all of their gun sales head home.Really, I wasn't aware of that. I figured that it was good to go; locked, obviously unloaded, and in a purpose built firearm bag. I have a TAC Force range bag http://tac-force.com/smallrangebag.aspx , made very well and carries what I need. I just lock the zippers. I have to say it isn't easy to store, it is very "square/wide" so I have some of the Home depot bags that I might try out. Not the ones pictured, but a lager one that has a smaller footprint than my TAC Force.Comment

The penal code and DOJ say different.
HANDGUNS Pursuant to California Penal Code section 25610, a United States citizen over 18 years of age who is not prohibited from firearm possession, and who resides or is temporarily in California, may transport by motor vehicle any handgun provided it is unloaded and locked in the vehicle’s trunk or in a locked container. Furthermore, the handgun must be carried directly to or from any motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while being carried must be contained within a locked container.
California state laws including the Business and Profession Code, Civil Code, Code of Civil Procedure, Commercial Code, Corporations Code, Education Code, Evidence Code, Family Code, Fish and Game Code, Health and Safety Code, Insurance Code, Labor Code, Penal Code, Probate Code, Revenue and Taxation Code and Vehicle Code.
Most FFLs do not know the law and constantly spread "facts" that will get you arrested.25610. (a) Section 25400 shall not be construed to prohibit any
citizen of the United States over the age of 18 years who resides or
is temporarily within this state, and who is not prohibited by state
or federal law from possessing, receiving, owning, or purchasing a
firearm, from transporting or carrying any pistol, revolver, or other
firearm capable of being concealed upon the person, provided that
the following applies to the firearm:
(1) The firearm is within a motor vehicle and it is locked in the
vehicle's trunk or in a locked container in the vehicle.
(2) The firearm is carried by the person directly to or from any
motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while carrying the firearm,
the firearm is contained within a locked container.
(b) The provisions of this section do not prohibit or limit the
otherwise lawful carrying or transportation of any pistol, revolver,
or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person in
accordance with the provisions listed in Section 16580.
