Because I live in California don't I need a case that locks for travel to the range. I have another bag I can use for the acessories.

cheapest thing to use is a plastic ammo box. They can be had for $9-15 dollars.
Has holes for using a lock.
I know people who use backpacks. They just padlock the two zippers closed.

I have a Hawkpaks Range Bag. No longer available on the website, but maybe still available.
Its a large duffel bag type range bag. I don't like to fiddle with a bunch of smaller stuff. I just shove it all in the larger bag.

I too, have been looking for the perfect, lockable range bag. After a ton of searching, I realized it didn't exist. What I ended up doing is buying the bag that I liked the most and worked best for my needs (Voodoo Scorpion Range Bag) and paid an extra $12 for a lockable pistol rug. That way, I got the bag I really wanted while simultaneously fulfilling CA's locked case requirement.

Where did you get the lockable pistol rug from?

Put a small lock through the zippers.

            Bam! Instant locked case!

Depends, do you have a locking trunk on your vehicle?

I use an Uncle Mikes range bag. Both large side pockets have lockable zippers. It comes with one rug, and I bought a second. Not the cheapest solution, but am very happy with it.

The midway USA "tactical pistol case" is awesome. I have one for each gun. It has magazine pitches on one side and two square compartments on the other. Perfect to keep everything for one gun together.

I have a Voodoo case for my AR. Never tried the pistol case, but it looks good.

I have a few of these, had a zipper pull bust on one of the pockets, but holds a pistol and a ton of mags. BTW, the pockets can hold a 100ct MTM 45 cal case each
