No, going to get yourself into even more trouble......"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" [Matt 28:19]

Not illegal, and profit has nothing to do with it.Lets forget for a minute what you are proposing is illegal.
Why would you a accumulate more massive debt? Bad idea.
Expensive, yes.
You can sell 5 handguns per year without problem, according to California law, and that law was specifically created to keep individuals from being dealers.
The uninformed chicken stupidity is starting to catch up with this forum.*REMOVE THIS PART BEFORE POSTING*Comment

I think *WHATEVER* was created to answer this post.Originally posted by gordon freemanI think you need to be more concerned if this will raise a red flag with the military. I think you should respect California's damnable laws out of respect for your career, your uniform, and the command which sends you here. Reflect poorly upon your command and they will make an example out of you.Why risk your re-enlistment, promotions, or security clearances?
You might have other options. You might be eligible for repayment deferment or even forgiveness. Your branch might even pay off your student loans in exchange for service extension. Visit a base financial counselor.
Anyway, think professionally at all times, on or off duty. Jealously guard your future against lapses in judgement.
Follow the law, buy some guns, sell them according to California law.
The military actually has NO problem with guns, by definition.*REMOVE THIS PART BEFORE POSTING*Comment

Also it is not 5 handguns or weapons but FTF sales. If one person buys 20 guns in a FTF transactions that counts as 1.
Also add the M&P shield and when you are bored with it, I will buy it.I support the NRA, if you are not in, you can't win.

Can you afford to buy them all in the "few weeks" until you move to CA?Hi everyone, in a few weeks I will be moving to California from Arizona as part of a military move. I am not sure if I will end up staying there, most likely I will stay an Arizona resident. In the event that I end up settling in Cali, however, is it a good idea to try to make a profit before I move? In other words, I was thinking I might purchase some off roster guns that would be very desirable in California, such as:
Ruger LCP (will buy a few of these)
Glock Gen 4 9mm
Springfield XDM 9mm
Springfield XDS 45
FNX 9
HK P30 or HK45
A KelTec if I can find one
EAA Witness
Beretta Nano
other guns I can't think of right now
Please understand that I am not trying to be greedy. I have massive debt right now from school and would also like to provide cool guns to people who can't get them. Do you guys think this is a good idea? Are there any guns you would like to see added to this list? Will this raise a red flag to the ATF? Thanks!
Anything you buy, and don't want to keep later, can be legally sold.
As a Military member stationed in CA, by Federal Law you will be considered a CA resident for gun purchasing purposes.
You cannot legally go back to Arizona and purchase off roster handguns once you are stationed in CA.sigpic

I was wondering how long before the misinformation on this thread got correct.
The above is correct. You are allowed to be the seller in 5 handgun transactions a year. But each transaction can include as many guns as the buyer wants to buy. Also, executors of estates are exempt when disposing of the estate.Comment

Buying a few guns you want to try and might sell if they don't work out should normally be OK but don't even think about becoming an "unlicensed dealer" by doing more than a few personal sales in a year. I would also agree that you have probably "red flagged" yourself with the ATF with your post.
On top of all that, I don't think there are really any guns that would offer such a huge profit as to compensate for the risk of not being able to find a buyer when you want or need to sell. People simply are not going to pay more than $600 for an LCP when the same money can buy a reasonable substitute in the form of a Kahr 380. Except for a few "unobtainable" pistols, the SSE process pretty much caps your potential profit at $100 or soRSM
The Truth will set you free, but first it will make you damn mad!

NO! As has been said here, that would be illegal, and the amount of profit you would make would not be worth the possibility of jail time.Sorry, not sorry.
