I've been resisting the urge to buy a H&K USP 45 because i'm sure i'll fall in love with it and my glocks will get less range time.

however... you just can't beat the price to performance ratio of a glock. period.

Baylife707, what is the purpose? CCW, target or something else? Glock is cheaper and you can;t really beat the value. HK is better hands down and 1911 can be fine tuned to be like a scalpel if that's what you want.

I like both! Glocks for their "go bang everytime" although you still have to take care of it. HKs are more refined to me. A little more picky and thus you have to clean it and keep it maintained but don't get me wrong it still a very robust gun. I like the ergonomics of the HK over Glocks. And HK looks better than a glock in my opinion.

I had a glock 23 and know own a hkp2000sk.I got rid of the glock it was a great gun but the ergonomics just werent cutting it. I can shoot better with the HK even though its a sub compact.

Hk is overpriced for what it is. I don't like either but my Money would be on glock. Hk's rub my hand raw

1911s are a great piece of history but you gotta realize its over 100 year old technology. Not to mention how heavy they are and the low mag capacity, ill stick with my g21 when SHTF

I've shot both Glock and H&K mainly. I prefer H&K.

You do realize the gun you have during a gunfight or SHTF means very little if you don't have the training to use it effectively. Standing at an indoor range and shooting at stationary targets is not training, it's target practice/plinking.

Shot a Glock 19 Gen 3 and HK USP 9mm P2000 LEM 9mm and own a HK P30. Just picked up a Glock 19 Gen 4 from jail today.

Quality of build stand point I see that HKs have it in their pockets.

Ergonomics, didn't like the USP, but liked the P2000 and the P30 has a really solid grip to whenever I shoot it. The usual complaint for Glocks.

Reliability, neither failed on me. I think that like any machine its how you take care of it. Ran 3000-3500 rounds through the P30 so far and never had a single issue. Glocks have a solid reputation.

I guess time will tell whether I go for my glock or hk in the future for shooting, but I love both of my babies the same.

GLOCK's are great guns "for the money", however there is truth in "you get what you pay for"

H&K is very expensive but I really like my USP's mag release and grip texture compared to my Glocks.

For action shooting or ccw, I choose Glock for the consistent trigger pull and short reset.

                              Glock.

I personally find Gaston's waffenpistole to have too much in common with a washing machine for my taste-im a wood and metal guy myself-but against an HK, there's no comparison. The HK is double the price because of the market position they've chosen. Sure their guns are cool hardware and are much sexier; but for the non-USCENTCOM black ops employee a Glock is functionally just as reliable for much less money. Spend $500 on hardware, and use the $400 you save for ammo.

The 1911 may have been in wars for 100 years, but Masetro Bartolomeo Beretta was arming the world 400 years before John Browning was ever a wet dream.
